Doesnt seem wrong to me, they qualified to be able to play in it. So therefore they shouldnt be treated any different, they should have to pay the entry fee. Regardless, the last place prize in the tourny is about twice the amount of the the cost of the qualifier and entry to the tourny.cuechick said:After paying $1000 to enter a Qualifier + travel fees, I do not understand having to pay an additional entry fee for the event they just paid to Qualify for?
Does this not seem wrong to anyone else?
cuechick said:They have to pay an additional 1000.00 (this is what I was told by my friend who won an entry), they are not "members". IMO, the 1000.00 they paid to enter the Qualifer should cover their entry. Other wise they are really paying 2000.00! + all their travel expenses.
cuechick said:All I know is what he told me, I asked him if they paid any expense money with his win, he said "Nothing, and I still have to pay the entry fee."
I think the boy would know what his obligation was...
FYI "Kid":

cuechick said:Have you ever seen a Qualifer that had no payouts either? I really hope I am wrong about this; but I do not think so.
I think the IPT sees it this way, that hundreds of players would have wanted one of the 50 open spots and that alone was what you earned with a Q'er win.

The info regarding entry fees has been on the IPT site since several months ago when they fixed the entry fees for qualifying tourneys for the vacant 2006 Tour Member slots at US$ 2,000/- and the entry fees for each individual open tournament at US$1,000/-.They hadn't even came up with the US$500/- option at that stage.
Tell you what.....if anyone who has already won a qualifying place, including cuechick's friend, sends me say US$ 300/- I will pay to IPT on their behalf any further entry fee that IPT asks them to pay.....deal? LOL

I would think it would be ridiculously easy for any player skilled enough to win a qualifier to come up with a dime. There has got to be tons of backers willing to front the money.
