IPT Q'er Winners Still have to Pay Entry Fee?

I will be more than happy to sponsor a play who has already won a qualifier to the main tournament. $1000 more when last place is $6000 is pretty much a no-brainer.

I would think it would be ridiculously easy for any player skilled enough to win a qualifier to come up with a dime. There has got to be tons of backers willing to front the money.

Since you linked a quote from me to the above which is in fact effectively a completely new and different discussion from the one my quote referred to,I should point out the following.

Apart from the 2k/6k mistake which rackmsucker has already mentioned and which is in any case irrelevant in the context of what I posted you appear to maybe have misunderstood the nature of the tongue in cheek offer I made. The situation at the time of my posts was that some qualifiers thought they had to pay an "additional" US$ 1,000 to IPT and I was confident that they didn't.

I therefore offered to receive US$ 300 from cuechicks friend or any other qualifier in return for me undertaking to pay the full "additional" US$1,000 entry fee on their behalf if they were later proved right that such an "additional" fee would have to be paid by them to IPT. My potential profit (or loss) was simply that I would keep the US$ 300 if they were proved wrong..........in other words for each qualifier who took up the offer I was betting my US$ 1,000 against their US$ 300 that they would eventually be proved wrong in thinking that IPT would make them pay a further US$ 1,000 entry fee.......that's all.

How on earth can you conclude,as you appear to have done, that an offer such as that would relate in any way to the completely different subject of a 'sponsorship' or 'backer' offer against their future tournament winnings?

Nobody in this forum (except you,and certainly not me) mentioned sponsorship or 'backing' of qualifiers......how stupid would I (or anybody else) have to be not to be already aware of your blindingly obvious point that backing someone who has already qualified would be a no brainer ??

After paying $1000 to enter a Qualifier + travel fees, I do not understand having to pay an additional entry fee for the event they just paid to Qualify for?
Does this not seem wrong to anyone else?
If you want to hear the answer directly from KT's mouth...listen to the audio recording he made several months ago regarding the qualifiers.

Go to the IPT in the News page on their website and click on the "Listen Now" link on the very bottom of the page under the "IPT North American 8-Ball Open Championship Qualifiers" header.

Between 9:00 and 9:10 into the audio recording, KT says...

"...So the top two players from each of the 25 qualifiers earn entry into the North American Open Championship. There's no entry fee if they win the qualifier..."

I just verified that information with the IPT. Essentially, the $1000 paid to enter the qualifier is your entry into the event if you win the spot.

Oh, ok. Sorry I misunderstood you. Good to hear that the qualifiers don't have to pay an additional entry fee.

By the way - we held two pre-qualifiers at the Fury booth and already one of the players who won at our booth has also won his qualifier and is in the IPT North American Open. That woud be David Broxson and we are listed as the referrer for him. We would like to extend a wish of good luck to Sotoshi Kawabata as he attempts to win the Japanese qualifier this weekend.

Bravo to you, John! That's cool that y'all provided a golden opportunity to David Broxson to compete in the upcoming N.A. 8-Ball Championship in Vegas.

He was actually hitting 'em pretty doggone sporty in Frederick, MD last weekend, maintaining his winning ways all the way through the winners' bracket.

I didn't know that the $1,000 qualifier entry fee also covered the entry fee to the Vegas event if the player wins the qualifier. That sure does makes things a whole lot easier on a player's pocketbook.
