IPT Rules are out

The other thing that was not addressed in the rules is stalemates. This occurs frequently in eight ball. When there is a cluster that neither player is willing to break up because to do so would be a loss. IN BCA rules I think there is a rule that allows for a new game when there is a stalemate.

I agree with you John. With this kind of money, and t.v. production, KT could certainly afford to have refs at every table. BCA rules state that after 3 consecutive shots by each player, with no attempt to make a legal shot or safety, the game is declared a stalemate, and played over.

While this "cornerman" thing may initially be tough to deal with for the players as a distraction I imagine after playing for a while with your opponent aloud to yap away and such it will become just part of the ambiance of playing and stop being a negative distraction, kind of like music in the background when shooting a shot. It will also no doubt add alot to the viewers enjoyment and really allow someone like McCready to shine and show people his more colorful side that one sees when he is matching up for the cash. While he was fun to watch in the US Open it was a fraction of the fun you can have watching him when he is on full speed for the cash yapping up a storm and running racks.

Think to the match between Vincent and Grady Seasons in The Color of Money and the trash talking that went on in that match. That is what I imagine they are trying to capture, and I cannot think that it would be a bad thing if it comes into being.

The IPT has emailed the rules, and I felt I needed clarification on 15 of them, so I am holding out until they are finalized in my mind.

The only truly surprising rule is that we can have Cornermen (or is that cornerpersons?) talking to us during our matches! I think that is more like WWF or boxing. I am thinking distraction by whispering and pointing is going to be a form of sharking. Not that anyone needs to shark me to win, and it can actually help me win some games if I have my husband in there coaching me. But I thought we were all big boys and girls and didn't need the hand holding, so I am pretty amazed. Plus it opens up a lot of questions as to the shark aspect. People will certainly not be sitting in their chair quietly watching while you are at the table, they will be talking the whole time. The cornerman must be in dress code.

Also, if you are late, you forfeit your match.

Slow play - warning by ref, then games forfeited as penalties to one or both players. No shot clocks.

BIH placement done by hand only - no use of the cue/ferrule. Call shot, break box, CB fouls only. 8 on break is win, 8 on break and scratch or foul is loss. 5 numbered balls must hit a rail on a legal break (no safety breaks!)

Otherwise, the rules seem standard and quite forgiving.

What are they then?

You have THOSE for an avatar and are complaining about other people being tacky and juvenile? (In case he goes and changes it in the future I've attached it for "reference" purposes.)

AD ... LMAO ... Do you think a girl like that would go out with
you on a date if you had white socks and dark pants on? .... ROFL

One thing I hope to see, which doesn't appear to be the case, is a referee for every table and every match.

I definitely agree with you here. I remember seeing pics from the WPC 9-ball Championship and there was a zebra at each table.

The Sigel v LJJ match was the "World 8-ball Championship", but the current event is only "The King of the Hill" right? So Sigel is the champ for a year?

If you stand close to her, she'd never see your socks!

Rules from the war zone

3 foul rule in effect! Takes out the stalemate.

Cornerman/person. Julie Kelly was in Karen Corr's corner, but probably only to give encouragement and be on the floor! lol. Didn't really seeing anyone else use that rule yet.

BIH anywhere after foul on the break!

Some people are being lax on the dress code. Gerda wore a striped sweater that most men would have killed to be able to play in. Allison wore a button down blouse with the tails out. Looks tacky. Gabe Owen wore a long sleeved polo (no buttons all the way down.) Several wearing mock T-necks, and I am sure you will see more after this tourney. Everyone looks sharp though.
