The Weert event is underway!
David Alcaide of Spain ran an 8 and out. The biggest pack made in IPT events thus far.
47 in the field. Quite a few of them had excemptions, maybe 10 I guess...anyone sure?

My admiration goes out to all those who have taken part in the IPT qualifiers. A sign of confidence, willingness to have a go and commitment.
There are surely a few who have good excuses for not being there, such as the Philipinos who couldn't get visas.
But as for some long list of credentialled players...where are they? Waiting for handouts...free rides?
People forget that those who applied early committed to pay US$1000 membership, with no guarantees of prize-money, and a commitment to travel to wherever was necessary. They were later rewarded for that commitment.
I hope all that attempted to qualify receive headstarts in later qualifiers...such as byes through the first round or two. Their sacrifice, courage and commitment is highly praiseworthy.
I particularly wish Vilmos Foldes success in this event, though wish a loss upon none of the entrants.
