ITP a done deal?

Humm, with the new year a lot of us expected changes at The IPT and I have a feeling that some are being made.

Chicago is starting to smell like Boston for a few, and maybe a clean break for the rest? I have a feeling that changes are being made and the long awaited hammer is coming down this week...

Will The Players Get The Final Check or just the 11%?

final check the players are still owed 66% after this delay in full payment.

players should be charging interests and add on the increase due to inflation as marked by the consumer price index.

Should I get ready to "eat my words", as the Esteemed Founder has promised we Sayers of the Nay most certainly shall? What wine goes best with words of naysayage? Should they be roasted, barbequed, boiled, sauteed, poached, broiled, or made into julienne fries? Mmmmmmm......words......

11% and a good-bye.

I'll be a bit surprised if the other 11% is fulfilled. The guy just has a hard time following through with what he says.

The other 11% ? To clarify the players have already been paid 22% and today that should rise by at least another 11% to 33%. So I think Eydie was asking whether the players will get 11% or 78% today.

Personally I think everyone is resigned to the fact they will get a total of 33% and anything else is an unexpected bonus. Whilst everyone will be dissapointed if the IPT shuts down at the end of the day 33% of the prize money was still a good payout for a pool tournament and 8-ball has been reinvented to rival 9 ball again so Trudeau's exploits will ultimately have been good for pool.

I will still be surprised if he pays the other 11%. Low lifes like KT just have a hard time doing what they are supposed to do. In his mind, he is getting screwed.

KT's exploits have been good for pool!! Sorry, but I just can't go along with you on this one. I just can't find where what he has done has improved anything. The IPT was to benefit only about 200 people anyhow. It isn't like it was going to help the while pool world. It did though, victimize many more. The qualifiers alone left many in a bad way.A huge sum of money was literaly pissed away on false promises involving the qualifiers.

I'm sorry, I just have a hard time finding anything positive the IPT did for pool or it's supporters. Everyone should be paid in full or KT should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. It is my belilef that they will be lucky to recieve the other 11%.

I have to disagree on this one, the only good thing KT will ever do for pool is LEAVE. I would add paying the players to this list but I don't think that will ever happen:(

No I have seen some good

When the IPT was actually paying the purses they promised I saw a lot of players getting very serious about their game. Some nice young folks started paying more attention to their game when they thought they could actually earn a living playing pool. Even some of the older players started taking a renewed interest. People in our room started playing more eight ball (it really is a good game to watch when played by A+ and pro Players). It did show me there is a lot of talent out there that is just waiting to be developed. With an honest business person at the helm and some changes to the business model it could have been good for pool in general. Sadly that was not the case and consequently has done more harm than good.:(

I'm sorry, I just have a hard time finding anything positive the IPT did for pool or it's supporters.
Here's a list to get you started:

- raising the profile of the game globally
- hosting some of the greatest events ever held and showing how it should be done (except for the bit where the cash is paid out!)
- notwidthstanding the issues with reno payments the IPT has still paid out huge sums compared to other pool tours.
- raising interest in 8 ball, the best pool game of them all.
- taught the pool world some good lessons for the future.

So I'm not excusing KT and I agree that he's a low-life but I'm still glad he came along and did this and believe the game will be better for it in the long run. Hopefully, if the IPT dies, someone will come along and take inspiration from KT's ideas but do it properly with a sustainable business model.

KT's exploits have been good for pool!! Sorry, but I just can't go along with you on this one. I just can't find where what he has done has improved anything.

Your above statements show me you need to live a little longer to understand that life doesn't always go as one would like. Life is not as simple as you make it out to be. Sounds like you have NEVER failed at something you have had a passion for, but to be safe why take the risk eh?

"Raising the profile" --- so now 1.5 million instead of 1.3 million people think pool is a sleazy game, run by crooks. With friends like that.....

I can tell you one thing positive as a result of the ipt. If it hadn't been for the ipt I would never have found these forums. It may not be a positive to you or anyone else but to me it is. The ipt by way of these forums has given me a renewed interest in learning more about the game I have been playing for 40+ years.

Not only am I more interested in pool for my own gain, but I talk about pool to many non-players that I come in contact with. I hope that is a positive.

If this is true for me there are probably many more as well.

Steve
No need to tell me all the negitives of the ipt, I am very aware. Just pointing out one good thing.

Just What IS 40% Of 11% ?

Do the people that signed a contract with Mark Trainer have to give him a percentage of their 11% ?

Do you honestly belive that most of the people who were new to pool and saw some of the IPT, know about the Reno payout problems?...

I have no idea what the size of the group "new to pool" was, so I can't calculate "most". But I'd wager the overall negative impression (at least among prospective US fans) has risen at least the ~15%, as in my (mostly facetious) example.

Almost all of the league players that I talk to don't know the ipt players didn't get payed, so I don't see non-pool players would have a clue.

If you say so.
