Is a 20-ounce Predator Revo cue an 18-ounce cue with weights added to it?

Predator Revo Sport 2 cue comes in weights between 18 and 20 ounces.

Is a 20-ounce Predator Revo an 18-ounce cue that has weights added to it?

Is the 18-ounce cue one without any weights added to it?

If the 20-ounce Revo is an 18-ounce Revo with weights, why buy an 18 ounce?

Why not just buy the 20-ounce and remove weights to make an 18 ounce? That way, you have the weights should you need them.

If true, buying the 20-ounce cue would be helpful, too, because it may include some parts from the $80 optional weight-cartridge system. See photos below. I presume some weights in a 20-ounce cue are weights used in that system.

If the 18-ounce Revo cue has no weights, the optional weight-cartridge system would be useless in varying location of weight along butt unless the weight was increased.

The cues weigh under 18oz without the cartridges.

Adding weight will also effect the balance of the cue and adding 1oz to the cue is not all the same. You could do it with one cartridge or several cartridges.

My cue I wanted something balanced a bit further back. I added a few plastic bolts in the front and a metal the furthest back. Its not a science this is more of an art and you need to experiment

Two responses disagree with the third response on whether a weight-less cue weighs 18 ounces or less:
_____ Zerksies wrote that the cues weigh less than 18 ounces without weights
_____ IUsedToBeRich says all the cues weigh the same without weights
Versus:
_____ Poolhall60561's cue weighed 19 ounces without weights (the 2017-era Road LE 5)

In any event, all responses suggest an 18-ounce Predator cue cannot take advantage of the optional Predator weight system because you can’t add weights to an 18-ounce cue without increasing its weight. It comes ordered as an 18-ounce cue having no weights.

Likewise, it makes sense to order an 18-ounce cue as a 20-ounce cue since you can remove the weights to make 18 ounces. What’s not to like? Same price. Maybe the weights would be needed.

Yeah, as long as you have the tool to remove them you can order the cue heavy and get some extra weights if you don’t need them.

But, if you want an 18oz cue I’d be careful. It’s possible they keep any cues that come in a little heavy for those orders that ask for a heavier cue. If a cue naturally comes in at 18.4, even if the target weight is 18, I’m sure they don’t scrap them. I would think they’d come in marked heavy to be used for heavier cue requests. It’s still wood and while I’ve found Predator to be incredibly consistent, there is still some variance with natural materials.

If you really want a 19oz cue you’re probably safe, in most cases, ordering 20 and being able to pull weights to get it to 19. But if you want an 18oz cue, I’d be a little hesitant to do it as you may find you got a slightly heavy natural weight butt and it can’t get down to 18.

Depending on wood type I don't think all cues are going to be the same. I am using a recent cue a four point sneaky pete. I ordered a 19oz cue with the hopes of adding weigh to match my old Richard Black of 19.25oz. After tweaking things around i ended up with a balance i like and ended up being 18.9oz.

I don't know the weight the OP cue is looking for. But all i could possibly reccomend is getting the 18oz and adding weight. They do make knock off weight systems I've bought a few bolts and they do measure what they say on them.

They do make knock off weight systems

The $33 SuperBilliards' knock-off weight system is the photo on the left and Predator's $80 item is on the right.

The Predator weights include longer weights than the knock-off. The Predator item would adjust the balance point in the butt better than the knock-off. Even with this advantage over the knock-off, compared to the McDermott H-Series, the Predator system can only adjust the balance point a small amount.

In answer to my questions about getting an 18 ounce cue with some free weights by buying a 20-ounce cue? Its better to order an 18 ounce cue stick and a knock-off weight system --- if needed--- and some plastic bolts. Otherwise, if the 20-ounce cue was ordered, the 18-ounce cue may be impossible to get since the cue may weigh 19 ounces if all the weights are removed.

Go with what you can confirm. Go lighter and add weight.

You WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY over-think shit. TBH i've been at this crazy game for a long time and i think i may have altered weight on a cue 'maybe' 4-5 times total. I don't buy sight unseen 'no test hit' cues so if i don't like weight i walk. Last time i changed a cue was to lighten a break cue. all this weight kit crap is just more sales gimmicks.
