Is a stroke that important?

Of course strokes are important. At the first sign of one (slurred speech, numbness, trouble walking) you call 911 and tell...What? He didn't mean that kind of stroke? He meant a pool stroke? My bad. Carry on.

The kid shoots great, but may I make a couple of suggestions...buy a cue rack, and TURN OFF the airplane

Kyle is definitely a prodigy! But I hope to God there is a real education in his future! It would be a crime not to give the kid the best of both worlds! Pool and school.

Are you kidding? Everybody wants to know how to Jump start pool in the USA, here is your pool messiah.

Some strong sponsorship, maybe like reebok, skittles, ... who knows, just a sprinkle of marketing, and boom... the Justin Beiber of pocket billiards.

Kids will be wearing his face on their tee shirts and playing pool like crazy.

The ship has come in, somebody better jump on!

to some players a stroke is a punch. the punch stroke is just as important to some players as a long elegant stroke that otber players employ. to each his own ...

I understand what you're saying. There are fine lines in each style of stroke. The elegant stroke can easily suffer from decelerating through the CB, while what you call the punch stroke isn't really a punch the way the kid was shooting, rather an acceleration through the CB with follow through.

The punch stroke can however easily become a jab or stab with no follow through. Personally, I think that slight exaggerated acceleration through the CB makes for more accurate pocketing. The balls seem to want to go in.

I think the OP is stating they kid doesnt get down on a shot and stroke the cue 5000 times before his shot happens rather he aims maybe takes a baby stroke then completes the shot but with a very good stroke...this is similiar to how i play i really dont like stroking the cue too much b4 taking my shot it just seems to mess me up too much can get in your head when im ready im shootn :)

You ask.
Not really, I would say if all you gotta make is pancakes.

If you gotta make some pool shots, you are going to need a stroke.
The kid strokes it just about as good as I have seen, He has a little bit of an extended follow through, or maybe you could call it an extra little follow through. no harm there at all.

Some one said get him to the US. I don't get that at all.
One could look at any one of the hundreds of posts on azb about the state of mens pool in the US to see the dead end here.

At least until there is a future playing big money matches on some body else's money..

He might be a little old to take up the game of snooker, but who knows..

I would say get him on a twelve footer and at least see what happens,
nothing to loose there, he is always going to be a monster pool player.

thx for the video and best of luck to the kid.

This young man has a great stroke.

All a stroke really is, to me at least, is the means to consistently deliver the cue tip to the right spot on the cue ball, on the right line to make the shot, and with the right speed to give the cue ball the spin and speed to end up where he wants it to.

Aint nothin but speed and direction!

And he's got it down. I've seen lots of kids play extremely well. They're playing without really thinking about it. The true test is to see how they do when they start to think about what's going on. Pool is more about limiting or controlling conscious thought than cultivating it.
