I have been concerned about Tina for a few days and unable to get in touch with her. Watching the news reports in San Diego, it doesn't look good out there at all. Has anybody been in contact with Tina recently?

I just got off the phone with her. She is safe for now, but has her bags packed in case she has to go. She'll be okay I'm sure. She said there is smoke all around down there, but the fire has not come over the next hill to hers. If it does, she's out of there.

Yup, Tina is fine. She called me earlier to compare the status of the fires by both of our houses.

She and I are at opposite ends of San Diego and of the 500,000 people evacuated, neither of us has had to evacuate... yet! We both have different fires on all sides of us coming from every direction:eek: .

Hopefully these fires will be contained soon! It's so sad how many people have lost their homes:( .

We live about 2 minutes away from El Toro High School in Lake Forest where they have been evacuating some SD residents too. (Fortunately the Portola fires have not been moving towards us.)

If you or anyone you know ends up at El Toro and needs any help please let me know.

The Red Cross also have a website up to register yourself as OK and check on other people here:

Stay safe.

I have a brother and sister-in-law in Encinitas. I haven't heard from them in a week. How is that area doing?

(Sorry, I don't mean to hijack the thread)

I just spoke with Plynsets, who lives in LaCosta, and he told me there's no fires anywhere close to them.

He's quite fortunate. Wish I could say the same about the rest of SD.

Considering all of the fires burning in SD, I may have been wrong about Carlsbad (I admit, I have been wrong before, lol). Encinitas is 5 miles north of Del Mar and residents in the eastern section of Del Mar did have to evacuate this morning, but I don't know about Encinitas.
