Is it a foul?

When you nudge a ball while carefully positioning the bridge head?

Ok, how about when you nudge it about 3 separate times while trying 3 different times to get the bridge head squeezed in at an off angle between balls in the middle of the table?(opponent just smiles and says leave it there..it only moved about 1/16 inch each time)

Just give up and kick?

Or, once set up, pulling the cue back, the shaft comes out of the bridge and lands on the interfering ball moving that one and another close to it?

I would like to see a bridge that has a flexible handle that can be shortened and twisted into pretsel shapes sort of like those flashlights that you can wrap around a pipe.

Don't know about you, but I have really butchered some bridging situations.

No foul, at least in league play. Normally, it's cue ball fouls only.
Sometimes there is also the rule that if you bump a ball during the actual stroke, it's a foul, but in the leagues I've played in, no-foul.

I have to say, there are lot's of people who use this to they're advantage....
I would like to see all ball fouls 100% of the time, for anyone from a level 4 and up. It's very frustrating, seeing the same people "accidentally" bumping balls.

That was part of my thought process for the bridge that I make. Tilt head and adjustable length. They are avaiable from Omega Billiards and Seyberts.

It also works as a jump bridge and the heads are changeable for the need.

I use a Moose head but those Adjusta Bridges are pretty cool.

Heres one for ya. Instead of using a bar Bridge, get a fit on of any choice and use your jump cue for the shaft. Its more than long enuff for any shot and and much lighter so easier to maneuver around the table. Even use a spare shaft if you like.

You will find that you will move less balls using it.

I find that trying to lift the bridge out of the way after you hit your ball is when I'm likely to move another ball as well. The jump cue is lighter and shorter so you can lift quickly with no interference.

But, cue ball fouls only so yer ok.

I know, I is a genius isn't I.

fouls

in championship tournament play and in BC of A rulebook moving any ball at any time with any object, ie hand, jacket, cue stick etc is a foul and returns play to the opponent. in league play and bar room brawls, rules seem to alter by the local play book.

I would say no foul....although what if in APA where slop counts you move a ball a little and then your object ball collides with that moved ball and pockets. Then I say foul. You altered the path of balls due to moving a ball.

Just to be clear, you are not referring to the cue ball when saying that you nudge a ball?

In APA, if you nudge the cue ball it is a foul, any other ball isn't.

Correct...not cb. Nor OB. One or more 'bridged around/over ball(s). Single or multiple times on same setup/not the shot.

gmillioni...That's a professional player rule (all fouls). Amateur play has never had anything except CB fouls (at least for the past 30+ years), with the exception of 14.1, which is generally played as all fouls count, including touch fouls.

Not positive, but in my league, which is BCA, it is not allowed to conatact any ball when using a mechanical bridge. If you do, it is a foul. It may be just a league rule where I play.
