Is it a good cue?

I am thinking of getting the McDermott "Dubliner" cue. My question is, is this a good cue? Does anyone have one and do you like it. Thanks.

I have never played with one, but my recommendation would be to find one you can hit some balls with and see how it feels to you. Only you can say what cue feels right for you. Good luck.

I have never hit with that specific model, but in my opinion McDermott makes a good playing cue that is a quality product and they usually all hit pretty close to the same. They also have a reputation for good customer service, and the lifetime warranty is a plus.

Here is a recent thread on AzBilliards where several "Dubliner" owners talk about their cue, but you might want to do a search and see what else you find on here:
http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=111038

A quick search on google turned up a couple of Dubliner's for sale that you may be interested in, and I'm sure there are plenty more but I only looked at the first few results on the first page.

One is from Nielsen's Billiards, who is a member on this forum (I thought his screen name was JoeRackem but it doesn't exist when I searched), and he is HIGHLY recommended by EVERYONE. He can also be reached at JOERACKEM@aol.com. Just check out his ebay feedback (100% positive feedback on over 16,000 deals). From what I have heard he is also usually able to give you the best deal and the lowest prices out there, and will usually give a discount if you are an AzBilliards member and purchase outside of Ebay. This one is a special edition with red clovers but I am sure that he has the one in green available:

This is a used one for sale that the ad says it is in mint condition, and could end up being a good deal. I don't know anything about the seller but the feedback is good (although his claim that the 24 inlays increases the accuracy of the cue made me LOL):

McD makes a solid cue... the shafts are outright famous for never warping....

if you get a cue with lifetime maintenance.. and lifetime warpage... basically if you have the clover and the M on the butt you are covered..

in a few phone conversations with McD they simply back their product I have seen them offer a freind of mine with a highly collectible cue.. the same lifetime maintenance and warpage guarantee that I got... even though those promises do not apply to any cues as old as his......and ignored the fact that he was not the original owner... the cue was not obviously mistreated.... so he got all the benefits I enjoy..
they back it up... and that means alot to me...

I play with a McDermott Summit cue every time I play. It is a great cue and I won't hesitate to get another McDermott cue in the future. Plus what is not to love about their warranty and lifetime maintenance plan! I probably will get another McDermott to have to use when my Summit gets sent in for maintenance!

Everything I read about McDermott cues is that they all should hit about the same.

Hi Montana Boy,

The first link that poolplaya9 gave you is a thread that I started. I currently own a McDermott M2WW wolf cue with a predator black collar Z shaft. This combo shoots very nice.

After all the praises for the Dubliner in the above thread, I have placed my order for it and should receive it in 2 day's. My pool league starts next week so I will let you know how I feel about this cue after shooting with it for a few day's. I am also considering ordering the matching collar I2 shaft which from many people say it is a fantastic combo!!

Paul.

I own one, with an I2 shaft. It was the 4th McD cue I have purchased (I sold 2 low end McD's I had) and have since purchased the Phoenix. All 3 of my McD play great, and they are very consistent as far as feel is concerned between the 3 McD's I currently own.
The Dubliner is probably the prettiest cue I own, and it gets quite a few comments. McD's customer service and lifetime maintenace program are unmatched by anyone. They are the best production cue maker in terms of customer treatment and standing behind their product IMO

Don't buy it though, you'll be just one more guy out there who has my cue...:D

Hi Delawho,

I wanted to thank you and the others that posted in my thread about McDermott Cues. I will have my Dubliner in arpox. 2 day's so it looks like
I am another guy that has your cue. ;)

Cheers.

Paul.

I have the Dubliner with mated and matched I2-Shaft, I love it. I now shoot with a pechauer with an ob-1 shaft. Dunno which of the two is better because they play so different. I've shot with some customs and a bunch of other brands, IMO McD is one of the best out there.

I also have a Hustler,07' M79B COTY, 08' M89B COTY, and the 08' M89A COTY. Awesome looking cues.

Sieze The Day!

I hope you enjoy your's as much as I do mine. Don't forget to register it with McD. The maintenace program is well worth the effort.

best way to figure out if a cue is worth my money, whether it's a 100 bucks, or over a thousand. just test hit it...
