Is it me or does the newer CSI magic racks not freeze all the balls?

LOL so I have both an original magic rack without the csi logo and a newer csi logo'ed magic rack.

The newer one does not completely lock up the balls and also seem thinner....

Its driving me nuts and wonder if anyone has noticed this

question - using the same balls, today, when you rack on old vs new majic racks, is there a difference?

or - if you holdup old vs new overlapped, do the holes lineup exactly?

not being a biotch. we have 2 old ones & they are perfect. we were contemplating getting more. thanks.

They are better for not changing the roll of balls over them, but too flimsy IMO and you can do tricks with them...leave a crack where you want. JT

I just got my new magic rack not too long ago and I have noticed the same problem. It is only when I played on certain tables which means the balls had something to do with it. It works great for the most part just need to have a good rack of balls in order for it to work perfectly.

I have a set of magic racks, and this year purchased a set of Accu-Racks from Outsville. I find that the magic rack is horrible when using worn balls, and will sometimes slide in place if a ball is left on them, and another ball rolls over.

IMO, the Accu-Rack's polyester make and flexible design better holds it to the felt, and accommodates ball sets that have unevenly worn balls (A la bar tables, where I play pretty much all of my matches).

That being said, the magic rack is still a good product, just not the best, IMHO.

Just got a CSI magic rack Saturday. I have had trouble getting the 1 ball and the two balls behind it to not have a crack. All the other balls seemed fine. Took the old spot off my table and it seems better. Will try on some good tables Friday night.

I was curious about those Accu-Racks by Outsville. Maybe I will have to buy one and give it a try.

i have the newer csi style...and im not happy with it at all..has large gaps and cant bring em in any tighter..i can rack better with a standard house rack..will be buying something else for sure

The one ball is the 1st object ball to "shrink", as it takes the hardest beating. That's why the 2nd row on a magic rack is most often the most difficult to snug.

Do you have thin worn cloth on the table? I believe on the worn no nap cloth the balls can't settle on the rack right. The old ones (I have mine for about 4-5 years) will just about never wear out and are thick enough to cradle the balls on worn cloth. It was a good idea to try to make them thinner, but test them first, before making a million piece run. JT

I have seen many of the magic racks that seem to have the cut outs a bit too far away for a tight rack. A few of them you can't freeze the front 3 on one side, ever. I actually had to put a few magic racks away and use a regular rack to get it tight which is pretty strange for that thing. This was with the CSI logo ones like yours. The first CSI one I got had that issue, I contacted them and got a new one, that one was fine. Then 2 others my league-mates have have the same issue.

Seems like Outsville has some good products, I will get one of those racks to try since I have had the same issue with a few Magic Racks. I tried their K-Tech tips and I like it better than the Kamui soft I used before, and I thought the Kamui Black soft was the best tip I have ever used. So the K-Tech tip is now the best best tip I have ever used :)

Like a lot of you I've had issues getting the front 3 balls to freeze with my Magic Racks. Switching to a newer ball set helped a little, but I've totally given up on attempting to use the 8 ball rack. The one I have could never freeze all of the balls. My MRs are over a year old now, but they've performed more or less the same since day 1. The 9/10 ball rack is good product though I feel it racks 9 ball a little bit better than 10 ball for some reason.

So to answer most everyone question I use cyclop balls as I have a travel case. They are new and do not have an issue when I use the older magic rack WITHOUT the csi logo. The issue is how the punched out the small diamonds in the rack. they are not accurate.

Also no the cloth I have tried this on is new on my table at home and worn at league so I am positive its the rack. Ill get some pics if I get a chance. Ill contact CSI about changing it out.
