Is it possible to throw an object ball? Nope

The shot seems something of a red herring. If you hit a ball straight and it threw the object ball in, due to conservation of momentum, the cue ball would also necessarily throw in the opposite direction a slight amount even if you hit it perfectly straight.

And the second post points to the example that I have used for many years to demonstrate throw. I find it very remarkable that you did not bother to try that test as written. In addition, there is now at least one video on-line that demonstrates the shot.

Not only is it possible to stop the cue ball dead and make the object ball go to the left of their line with right side spin, it is possible to make the object ball go to the left and the cue ball also go to the left with right side spin and the correct fullness of hit.

But it seems Ron was not talking about throw. He was talking about making the object ball curve.
