Time to remove the NPR section?

It is by far the most provocative section of the site. Has just about zero to do with pool.

All it seems to provide is a place for a fairly limited number of members to argue and insult one another over issues that are far beyond their control.

Regardless of what anyones politics are, the people there are beyond uncivil to each other. But do we leave them alone in their own cesspool or run the risk of them shitting up the rest of the forums if you get rid of NPR?

Take the aiming forum as an example. That bizarre display of people being reduced to their most primal behavior over billiard aiming used to happen *here*.

Dont read it... problem solved. At least they have a place to go other then the main forum.

Why did you post this in the main forum? It has NOTHING to do with pool. Next time you want to comment on Non Pool Related, take it to the NPR.

This is a complex question requiring info and insight far beyond that which we possess. I assume that Mike is already doing what is best for AZB.

It's needed. It looks like a very active area. 1.6m messages. It holds the cancer from reaching other areas of the forum

I think if you looked a little deeper you'd find that there are a bunch of guys in there who literally have 10's of thousands of posts and a number of others who are trying to reach those numbers. Some of them treat it like it is their own little online fiefdom and gang up to try to quash any dissenters with insults and name calling. For those that agree with them, it is the perfect echo chamber. Facts and intelligence do not seem to matter in the NPR section. Misinformation is regularly dispensed and questionable sources are cited as the absolute truth. It is quite entertaining.

Simple answer to why I posted in the main forum is it concerns AZ. But if it gets moved there, that will be Mike's choice...

AZB is like a pool room. You may be discussing a new tip and shaft, or the hurricane that's coming.
If you're looking for an argument it will find you anywhere you go. Any forum can turn into a crap show quickly.
I've seen the Main Forum, Cue Gallery,Aiming, Instructors, etc. get nasty.

There are some great people in NPR. Spend some time on the darkside and you can find them as I did.
If you want confrontation you can find it. There are also civil discussions on interesting topics.
There is music, fishing, things you made or built, items you purchased, cars, and many other topics.
You will not find How To Hold A Pool Cue or I got cheated in the APA, although the Orange 5 Ball has come up.

Like any forum you may visit, scroll through and choose your poison.
I participate in NPR and choose to stay away from many discussions as I do in the Main Forum.
I have them daily and prefer not to get involved when I am just relaxing on a billiard forum, to each their own, I don't pass judgement.

It's a pool hall, one minute you're talking the Orange 5 Ball, next minute you're talking plumbing.
You will find good people in NPR, they don't bite.

Maybe you should google the full name of NPR…it’s Non POOL Related.

You post reminds me of a story…a lady called the cops about a neighbor who was exposing himself.
The cops showed up, and she led them to her balcony. Cops said he could see nothing.
She said that if you stand on the railing, hold onto the umbrella, and lean out as far as you can, you’ll see he’s wearing no shirt.

Well it's called NPR for a very specific reason, and to me seems like a warning or disclaimer for anyone who may be offended by anything not billiards related. One thing is for sure, it get traffic and traffic if I recall correctly draws advertisers, who pay the bills. This is a forum and forums thrive on user participation. Live and let live I say.
