Is it worth spending 40$ to repair a 100$ cue? (and a few other questions)

it's not worth spending $40 on a $100 cue. especially if it's a cuetec. you could probobly go on ebay and pick up another used one for not much more. your best bet is to go with th McD's. get a real wood cue and start out that way. if you like those you can begin to experiment later on down the road with other makers and/or ld shafts. leave the graphite crap alone and don't throw half of the purchase price towards fixing a cheap cue.

I rep to you.

Good to have honest, resonable, and excellent reparimen.

Thanks.

You know, even if the threads are completely torn out, I can fix it for $20. I think the cue is worth fixing because right now, you have a $100 cue that you cannot use or ethically sell. You can spend a few bucks and keep it as a breaker, like suggested, or sell it and recoup some of the money.

There is no price on repairing a cue that you like. I'm currently paying $150 to have a cue shortened because I like the cue.

Thanks.

Yeah, thats my plan now after talking with you ... some of the other places i approached about repairing it .. either would turn it down or were quoting prices to replace the threads completly ... which was coming up to the price of another shaft for the cue ...

You want a WIN - WIN situation....send it to Ryan for the fix, and pick up one of his Rat Cues for a player. There you go, a fixed Cuetec to break with, and a new player!! One stop shopping at it's best. I'm sure he has a cue in the price range you're willing to spend; all you need is ask.

Buy a custom sneaky pete

I would suggest spending alittle more money and buying a Sneaky pete from one of the many talented cue makers on AZ. You cant go wrong with a SP. It will Play great and you will be able to play with it for a life time. All of the cue makers on AZ will stand behind there work and make you happy with your purchase. just my opinion.

if i had put much thought into it when i saw his first post i may have done that .. but by that time i already had some other cue's ordered ...

will be sending the cuetec to em soon enough to check out and repair ... and will go from there on other stuff ... a SP would prob be along the lines of what i like ... i prefer plain and simple for looks ...

one thing i have noticed ... i am now shooting with my McDermott ... i like how it feels a lot better then the cuetec ... not sure how to explain it ... other then the cuetec was a bit flexible ... and the weight was to far back in the butt. (won't comment on the rock hard tip)

Ratcues just made you a great offer. Ask him how much to throw a phenolic tip on it and viola-you've got a break cue!!

Don't ya just love the AZ community?

yep, its on the way to em now to get fixed and another tip on it at least ...

here are a couple of pics of what i am using now (which so far i enjoy a lot more then the cuetec)

disregard the case, it was given to me. eventually i plan on replacing it with a better quality one (its okay, but the 'real' leather is far from it .. but it serves its purpose for now while i decide for sure what i want)
