Wins the us open and then doesn't do anything at Steinway

pretty sure Sam lambert could beat him with the 5 out.

That is very unfair to Sam Lambert. Didn't you read his blog?? He has only been playing for 3.5 months. Sam only beats the 4 ball ghost, now, after 3.5 months.

Wait till Sam has 13.5 months in. He should be 4 times as good as he is now, he's THAT talented.

wow I never thought we would get a sam lambert nuthugger

Two and out at the Gotham and two and out at Steinway, with a US Open win in between.

Cheng is complicated, but as Barry Behrman rightly noted on the first day of the US Open, anyone can catch a stroke at a moment's notice, mentioning Tommy Kennedy and Reed Pierce as two previous Cinderellas at the US Open.

Let's give him his due and we'll see what he accomplishes in the next year or two.

Cheng also won the Minyu(sp?) tournament in which he beat Wu in the finals for 30K. Also in the tournament was Big Ko and I'm sure a whole slew of Chinese/Taiwan players.

With that said, I still think he's a hair or two below the Ko brothers and the Chang guys.

Shane and Dennis didn't fair well at Steinway either. So just b/c a player is a top 5 guy in the world, hes still vulnerable to get beat in a race to 9.

That alone speaks volumes for the guy, as I consider Wu the best player on the planet. Heck, if Corey Deuel can win the US Open, why not Cheng?

I dont pretend like I know who was playing back then, but I imagine the field was much weaker than 2015.

What is the lighting and equipment like at Steinway and Gotham?

Also, let's make one thing perfectly clear.
Weekend regional events are not always about who is the best pool player, and a lot of times are about who is the best pool player that isn't falling apart at the moment. Endurance is a huge factor.

Couple of days of playing all day, will take it out of you.
As well as waking up early and having to play and not really being 100% because you still want to sleep.
Lots of factors.

From reading the posts, I can only ask how much was the prize money for the to tourneys he 2 stepped? Is it possible he is only motivated by the prize money?

I know when I would gamble for 20-50 dollar sets, I played at a certain level. Then when the bet got up there, it was a different story! Just ask in:)
