Whatever pool is to you, a sport or a hobby is it your favorite?

Not only to play but to watch and follow?

I have to say to me it isnt :/

To me it is however my favorite to play, it's just not my favorite to watch and follow....I think that part of the reason is that it isn't as easy to follow as other sports through television and the media....Not enough there to keep me interested...? :(

I would have to say it is my fav to play and watch. As I am getting older, riding either of my motorcycles is starting to take over when the weather is nice, but after 20 years, this is my fav hobby. What I like about it is, as long as I take care of my hands and eyes. I can keep playing/learning till I die. Can't say that about alot or sports/hobbies.

That is true...I figured this would get a good variety of responses....

I am on the opposite end of the spectrum, I am 24 years old and in pretty good shape and able to play any other sports out there I think....

I just love Sports in general, I love Football, Basketball, Baseball, even Wrestling, REAL WRESTLING I live in Iowa, Wrestling IS Iowa :) College and Olympic, I love that sport, and it is just as (If not more so) hidden and lackluster to Americans as pool....FYI, which all of you probably know, there is no pro Wrestling, the WWF doesnt count :)

but that makes for another discussion :)

Golf has been my favorite sport/hobby for 25 years and although I have played pool most of that time also it is only in the last few years that I have grown to love it. It seems very likely that if I continue to get better (I have improved quite abit this winter) pool could become my favorite.

I live for this game......

I use to be hardcore into Paintball and Airsoft, We spent Thousands on these Games. I have peen playing for sometime and I have spent More than I would have liked to but I think I live for this game.

Cars used to be my biggest passion -- restoring, modifying, racing. I'd spend weekends on my back with fingers caked in grease, and a smile on my face. Pool was neck-and-neck, but when I had to sell my car when I moved to NYC I am left (quite contently) with only pool.

yes to both, although i like to play/watch golf and poker, also. but, in ranking order, pool is number one for me right now.

pool/billiards = wintertime for me here in IL. That is unless it is a mild winter. LOL To be honest, I probably think about golf more in the wintertime too, but just don't get as much of a chance to play.

I played baseball in college, and though my prime years are past, I still enjoy playing baseball/softball (again, limited to seasons). I do play basketball once a week in the winter too, but never had a true love for the game...just played it pretty well.

I'd say pool is pretty far down on my list as far as things I like to do, but I enjoy it quite a bit when playing competitively. Not obsessed like I am with golf though :)

Definitely my favourite to play, and I do enjoy watching it but I'd have to say cricket is my top choice to watch. There are several other sports I like to watch including hockey, soccer & golf but if I'm channel hopping & I'm lucky enough to find a pool match on TV I'll watch it.

Pool has always called to me.

My father had trophies tucked away in a closet somewhere, but I never got to see him play. I rarely saw a pool table before I got into the Army.

Yet still, I had a burning desire to find somewhere to hit balls the night before I shipped out to basic training.

Some can remember when they got bit by the pool bug, the exact time period in their lives when they first became fascinated with the site of pool balls rolling. Not like that at all for me. I just always wanted to play.

I've always been really competitive, wanted to win at everything. I have never been able to generate the level of desire in any other pursuit, that I have for pool, though. I spent 3-4 years learning how to play NL poker to the best of my ability, but that was only because I did not have access to a pool table.

I have a jillion pool DVDs, and watch them constantly, mainly going back and forth between 9 ball and One Pocket.

If I became independently wealthy tommorrow, there is absolutely no doubt that I would practice 8 hours a day and treat it like it was a job. I'd enjoy it a heck of a lot more than a job, that's for sure. I'd fashion myself a modern day Weenie Beanie. A square turned hustler...:D

For me, nothing can replace the tap..tap......tap feel of a big 'ol bucketmouth bass suckin' a plastic worm into his mouth and then me crossin' his eyes with a hard hook set that would pull the skin right off of a mere mortal human being:eek: !!!

I, last year, would have put ridin' my motorcycle ahead of pool also. But it seems the older I get, the more unsafe motorcycling is starting to feel to me. Therefore, I would now put pool ahead of motorcycling.

I also target shoot, reload my own ammo, hunt, bowl in a league, shoot pool in two leagues, along with fishing and motorcycling. And believe it or not, there are some weeks in the year that I have done every one of my hobbies/sports all in one week :) :) :) .

Geez, you gotta love retirement, eh ;)???

I have too many hobbies, but pool is definitely my main focus these days. I don't really bother following it but I do love to watch others play. I have fallen asleep many nights watching snooker on youtube.com. :)

Hot rods and pool are neck & neck.. kind of depends on the time of year. I just know that when the weather warms up I'll be DRAWN to the garage, the shows, the drags and the cruising lane by some sort of invisible force. Just as I'm equally drawn to the family room and the Diamond about November of every year. I'm pretty sure it's magnetic forces of nature that have to do with the positions of the planets.

hobby...

O_O....

What is this word... "hobby"?

Pool is life! I dream, sleep, eat, breathe, and CRAP pool.... that sounds really painful, but you get the picture.

Maybe I'm just a strange fruit but I'm pretty much an addict. I'm gonna need an intervention pretty soon if this keeps up.

I really hope I don't get the picture, that could very well make me cry.

I'm in the same boat as old swoony boy over here. Pool is life. Minus the crapping part. When you find yourself thinking about pool while watching a REALLY REALLY good movie, while on the pot, during your anniversary dinner, and while doing anything that usually requires most of your attention... then you're just as stuck.

Is pool your favorite Sport/Hobby?

I like pool, but not exclusively. I also like golf, fishing, sking, bull riding, auto racing, poker, jai-alai, horse racing, Deadliest Catch (crabs), Court TV (Nancy Grace), American Idol, Deal Or NO Deal and Judge Judy.
I can switch back and forth for 20 hours and maintain my interest.
