Is removing your glove a shark move?

If you gotta go through contortions to justify a hypothetical, perhaps there's a better answer. Be an Ambassador to the game. Making excuses for borish behavior is ........? UN Somethin' 😉
I am for honesty but I play poker too. 🤷‍♂️
Just gotta play within the rules. Unsportsmanlike is addressed in rules. Most leave to referee discretion with loss of match available. I have seen it result in bared or ineligible for any BCA event.

I hear a lot of talk but i'm betting if this shit happened to most AZ'rs they'd sing a different tune. Everyone likes to 'think' they're shark-proof up until the second it happens.

i'll gladly admit i'm easily sharkable. gloves off last rack in my line of sight would probably piss me off. some people need a good scolding

When my friends are sparring amongst ourselves for practice we will often do some "sharking." It's actually part of the practice session. If you practice getting sharked and fading it, it actually helps a lot when it happens in actual competition or action. Some pool players are the unsavory type, and some do it unintentionally. They get to stewing about a miss, the thought of getting beat, or whatever their emotions and reactions to adrenaline are... and sometimes shark without even knowing it. If I see an opponent sharking, I acknowledge it and mentally categorize it as they are squirming from being uncomfortable about the whipping I'm giving them. Water off a duck's back, then, and only then do I take my shot.
There's a bar north of me that has a sharking tournament every once in a while, I went to one and had a blast. Almost anything goes besides physical contact. Even the bartenders were getting into it, walking straight through the table area, etc.
My strategy was to not shark at all until a super crucial moment. It helped win me the match for the point, my opponent was up on me in a race to 4 and on a super easy 9 ball that was right around the rack area. I got up and grabbed the rack right as he was shooting, and he dogged it! I went on to win the set.

I think it’s time this is discussed…

It’s hill-hill, ur opponent scratches on the break. Then walks over to his chair and removes his glove as if the outcome of the match is already determined.

How is this not considered dismantling of equipment, just like breaking down a cue, which is universally considered a forfeit?

I’ve seen that a number of times here at the INT open…. As well as one player who broke down his jump cue and put it in his bag while his opponent was still shooting.

That is a very minor "move" if anything. More frustration than trying to distract someone on purpose. I was at the International Open for a day, they have refs, if it was a punishable offence they would have said something, or the opponent would have. Don't be like an APA player and jump at every minor thing to win a game. "HEY HEY, he shot a 1 inch shot but DID NOT MARK THE POCKET, I WIN! I WIN!"

Capito threw a visible tantrum at Liushan open when Zhang Yi came back to beat him, stropping around the table, furiously wiping his cue, refusing to help take balls out of the pockets, face like thunder. All things you can do without getting reprimanded by the referee.

I had a moment yesterday and thought WTF is this goof doing. First off I waited 10-15 min after our match was called for him to show up then the 1st game he misses a shot and scratches. I get the CB and looking at the pattern for a second and he's pulling balls out of the pocket on the next table to practice. I sat on the stool by our table and he looked at me like WTF am I doing. I said I'm waiting for you to stop being disrespectful and get back here.
Yeah, it's more than being disrespectful: under the WPA rules it's a 6.17 Unsportsmanlike Conduct foul, which is at least Ball in Hand and could be upgraded to loss of rack or loss of set or ejection from the competition depending on the referee's discretion. You should have hailed the TD or Referee.

With gloves and smooth CF shafts, I don't know why everybody is wiping down their cue every inning with white towels........

I have wondered that too! I wonder if it’s just a habit from when they weren’t using a glove, or perhaps just a routine to help clear the mind, or whether there really is something on the shaft they want to remove.
