Personally i didn't see anything wrong with it. After all the were playing for national pride, if it was team Europe and they were in their home turf they would be doing the same thing.

As for his playing being "over rated", I'll tell you what, I'll back Rodney Morris for any amount you ever have the guts to shoot for. The guy has game, period.

Why can't you add something positive to this board? Oh right, buy a Mali.

I have never heard Rodney Morris be described as Obnoxious and Over Rated. But coming from you it is laughable. But since you yourself has rated yourself so high as a great 8 ball player and with a voice that is ready for play by play announcing, you should know better.

If you are as good as you claim you would be able to see Rodneys talents, ability, and professionalism. He is a former US Open champion. And you champions, Silencer, should be able to perceive all those abilities and the human qualities it takes to be a winner in each other. Of all the tournament wins that you and Rodney must have I know that you dont spend all your time shaping your tips, stroking your Mali shafts and wrapping your butts with fine Irish Linen. Surely you must know the time spent perfecting ones craft in order to represent America on the Mosconi Cup team is awesome and immeasurable. I think you might want to rethink your attack on Rodney. I mean as a fellow quality pool player.

alright, i guess i should put it this way. there are certain people who just rub me the wrong way. rodney morris, earl strickland. jeanette lee. and then there are the other people, who i plainly like, ralf souquet, allison fisher, nick van den berg, steve davis.

yes, i have noticed this myself. they seem to be more calculated. more precise. well behaved. thinkers. quiet, reserved, paced. i prefer this cool, smooth professional way, over the loud obnoxious style of american players. go figure? i'm in new york usa, and prefer souquet over strickland. furthermore, i believe seperatly the european players are better players than the american players. it boggles my mind that the americans keep winning the mosconi cup. i guess we have more confidence?

no, we are not. germany is the best on earth. ralf souquet, thorston homann, thomas engert, francisco bustamante, oliver ortmann tom storm. hey, were up late, huh?

Yeah Francisco Bustamente the legendary and awesome German player. Many I am sure forgot about him. But he has trouble beating good ole American Chin Shun Yang so there~

Bustamante a german

sorry to interrupt, i am a filipino and i'm proud to say francisco bustamante will always be a filipino player and has been and will be as always til he retires. maybe you confused his player profile that he lives in Kiel, Germany with his nationality. that was before when he was starting to do his western invasions. now he resides here in the philippines.

I am a new member of the forums, however have been reading them for quite a while. Frankly, this silencer fellow wants to start threads to rant on specific players. Of course I am biased when it comes to people like Earl Strickland because he's from right down the street. Perhaps you can post something or make educated replies. I've been reading your pathetic posts for months now. Why don't you quit bumping the good threads to the bottom? Your posts about "the greatest shot," "the worst shot," etc. are worthless.

I have spoke to Rodney on a couple different occasions and he was pleasant to deal with. My girlfriend was at Mosconi Cup with me and she especially liked his play and how he got the crowd going out there.

I know that Nick had to be politically correct when he named the Most Valuable Player of the team, but there is no question in my mind that it was Rodney. The euro crowd was very loud at the event and it took Rodney's Hulk Hogan imitation to quiet them down.

Don't get me wrong. Ralf and the other players you named are great players. But I would rather watch Rodney or Earl play 'fast and loose' than watch some of the euro players study the table for 5 minutes on a stop shot.

To give you an idea how much that slow play drains from the excitement of the match, while at Mosconi Cup watching the matches I dozed off in the middle of one Euro player's run. Mosconi Cup is one of the most exciting events there is and I actually fell asleep during a run.

That is not going to put fan's butts in seats.

Excellent post Mike. I agree 100%

Rodney "THE ROCKET" Morris

:) Rodney Morris is one the best guys you will every meet playing this game !!!
He is very nice. I meet him at the US Open and we had a nice conversation. He is not like some players that think they are to good to mingle with the non-pros in this sport. And another thing...He upholds his nickname very well because he surely plays like a "ROCKET". Very damn good player....period !!!

SILENCER, the next time you are really pissed off at your money, stake Nick to play Rodney for a large amount.

To Silencer, I realize we are all entitled to our opinion, but Rodney is a very strong player. If you don't like his style, OK. But to say he can't play, is in bad taste. When you win some major stops such as the U.S. Open, you can say "he can't play". Until then, you should find something positive to talk about. Sam

What's this? Oh another Silencer post.....

Rodney is not at all obnoxious and he is a great player. If you like to watch the euro-stiffs plod along at the table then that's great. Many people actually enjoy watching players who have some degree of outward expression at the table, not to mention speed of play. I agree with Mike that trying to watch some of those 10 minute table runs which should take 3 minutes are booooooriiiiiiiiing. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

I have had the pleasure of working with Rodney Morris for the last year and he is one the most likable people on the planet. He is gracious and respectful. He does have game and shows it.

I don't think anyone who has met Rodney would desribe him as obnoxious in the least. Rodney is one of those players with so much raw ability and creativity that he is simply amazing to watch. This coupled with his affable personality makes a great player.

And Bernie, even the Germans admit that they do not have the best players. They have great players but it took American training and Filipino influences to reach world class status.

Your hero, Ralf Souquet, is one of my good friends and we have had a lot of conversations about pool and life.

John
