Is there a pro with a more powerful stroke than Larry Nevel? (video)

running out 80% of his games is pretty good. I think.
He might have gotten a little lucky with that position off the one ball...
Just kidding. He got perfect.
So what does it take to make the cue ball move like it did off the 8-9 ball?
Is is just clubhead speed? I know I can't make it move like that. What makes this stroke so superb??
thx

id rather play like Corey...

Hell, i'd even rather be Corey, see Corey, read about Corey...

Pattern detected.

Pretty sure it's just hit high and HARD. His follow-thru was about 2 ft past the cue ball position. Hell, and he did it with an open bridge... how the heck does he keep from miscuing high?

God I wish I could hit it that hard with precision.

Mike Massey has a pretty powerful stroke still. It would be interesting to see a stroke shot challenge match between him and Larry Nevel.

According to Larry he and Massey had a stroke contest when Larry was something like 17 years old and Larry won.

Must be confident to hit the last two like that. Does he ever go to international events? I bet he wouldn't do that using his own money against Shane or Alex or Django or Dennis!

Maybe he does but I wouldn't think he would.

Larry won like 9 southern billiard tournaments in a row. I think he does have the most powerful stroke ever!

he plays the SAME way...

that's like saying, "I bet John Daly would shorten his backswing if he were playing in the British Open".

He got to that level with a BIG ole stroke, and he has NO PROBLEM using it in situations when it's needed (against anyone).

I actually think there are quite a few guys that could compete with Larry as far as their strokes go. I just don't think as many of them let their strokes out as much as Larry does. I think it's just a part of the game that he has always been interested in so you tend to see a lot of the big stroke shots out of him.

I'm not saying he doesn't have a very powerful stroke because he obviously does, I just think their are a lot of guys that have very powerful strokes but you just don't see it as often.

Just my theory and I could be wrong.

Jeff is nice but, I'm liking Larry.

Damn it! Now that I started watching I have to finish. I must concur with OP

Thanks for sharing.

Personally I absolutely love stroke shots in 9ball. The way the cueball reacts is so beautiful compared to other ways and once you know the speed you can vary it according to how many rails you intend to hit in order to get position.

As one of the others have said I suspect there are several others with a stroke as big as Larry. They just don't use it for position all that often because while it's beautiful it is much less predictable.

We all know about coming into the line of a shot. If you cross the line of a shot 4 times due to a crazy stroke shot and come out of it beautifully- well that is pure skill but you rarely see someone with the balls to use it in a tournament.
