I have all the shafts i like in 516x14 piloted. I wanna see how they would hit on something other than the stainless steel joint. i can't find any production cue that has this joint in wood or phenolic. does anyone know

It's pretty rare to be honest. Scruggs and Sly are the only two I see do it much. Most use a flat face pin. Radial...5/16x18...3/8x10 etc.

I was just thinking about my only Tim Scruggs cue that I did not sell.
5/16-14 piloted cocobolo joint

Joss makes a line called L'Americano that has what you're looking for exactly. A very solid plain jane cue. Here's a couple pictures of one I happen to own. I like playing with it when I need something inexpensive to use. They are sold by Crystal Leisure exclusively as far as I can tell. http://www.crystalleisure.com/products.php#top

L'Americano Fake

The L'Americano is not a Joss Cue. It is a copy from China. Although, if you want an inexpensive cue, with this type of joint, it should work.

My Scruggs SP is wood to wood with a 5/16 piloted pin. Its probably the best hitting cue with a soft hit that I have owned.

I thought that too when I bought it 2nd hand from a guy who told me that but my research confirmed that Joss does in fact makes this cue. It even says maide in USA on the butt cap.
