Is there any interest in full splice jig?

we set up and try-ed this last night, when using the jig parts of the jig came apart ,so we stopped and re-glued and pined every piece using white gorilla glue and a nail gun gun 1" small nails. We tried again cut 3 samples i agree its easy but where everything meets in the rear part theres some finish work involved. if Scott wants to build these for 75.00 thats a great deal worth much more then that. you need to look at things like this lets say theres a jig to do this that makes perfect full splices every time if it sold for $500.00 it would be worth it, not saying if we decide to make one it would be that much. I am just trying to prove a point if you spent 500.00 today you have the rest of your life to make that investment back . now you take the person trying to cobble something for nothing he is wasting time and money
playing around when he could be on his way to making money using something that works and is of a little higher quality. one thing i believe
if your worried about spending money cue making is the wrong business for you . whether you spend money with me or anyone my thought is good tooling is better then 50% of making a good product.......lee

I probably won't have any interest in this jig, but in my opinion, if Lee wants to charge $500 or even $1,000 for it, then why shouldn't he. The jig should pay for itself in no time. Whether it cost him $10 or $200 to build it, why shouldn't he make a profit on it? Scott sold it to him, saying that he was probably going to be building them to sell and even mentioned in the thread that he thought it was a good thing.

If I wanted to produce them $75.00 wouldn't be the price. The jig needs to be built out of better materials then wood and that makes the price go up quickly. Lee is a good person to produce and the machine and it will be an investment.
The jig will be a seller.

I don't know the exact sizes of the parts in the picture, but FR4/G10 plate seems like it would be a great material for some of the parts in the fixture. The price I pay for a 3/8" x 24" x 24" piece is $85 ($21.50 sq ft) and 1/4" x 24" x 24" is $57.30 ($15.33 sq ft.). With at least a couple hours of machining you get over $200 real quick. Assuming the parts in the picture were made of some combination of G10, Delrin, and/or Aluminum your probably looking at a price $300 - $500 range depending on volume.

just a guess.

We're just jealous Lee got the first PM in there and we missed out on the $75 bargain price! I sent my PM so late I didn't even get a response (though I read the thread and completely understand why).

full splice jig

Make a jig for cutting the front, the way the old timers did(in the square with a table saw) and the world will beat a path to your door.

We Are At A Stand Still I Have Been Working On Our Cnc To Take To The Us Open We Will The Breeze Storm And Shaft Tapper There To Sell......

Please let us all know when you might have the full splice jigs ready. Still very interested.

Does anyone think they would be interested in a full splice jig that attaches to a bandsaw and runs on linear rails? It would be fully adjustable and you'd be able to shim it to perfection the way I m designing mine right now. If there is enough interest I might offer them to the public but I am ensuring this is set up perfectly and is fully operational before I do so. I have been working on one for a while now but work keeps getting in the way, but it's very close.

I get mixed results with my simple angle jig (running against the fence) so I might be interested depending on the price and complexity.
