Is there any video of Vernon Elliot in action?

As the title implies....

I've only heard stories, but never actually saw the man at the table. Anyone have a video of the man, the myth, the legend?

I'd ask Freddy the Beard. He may know if there is one in existence. That would be pretty cool! :)

This would be nearly impossibly unlikely. Vernon was extremely protective of his low profile status and apparently avoided cameras to the extent that I heard he trashed one back in the day. He hustled until he had a stroke that left him unable to. It was only then that he came out from undercover. I have heard that he would occasionally trust some young players who he did show some things to, but the idea of him letting anything be filmed simply does not fit his demeanor.

I agree 100%....Vernon was extremely "old school" and I was lucky to end up knowing him through some road player partners from Kentucky and Arizona.

We played in a bar in Indianapolis for 12 straight hours for $200 a game on a bar table. I saw how well he "pinned" the cue ball and knew he must be an unknown champion. We broke even and I after the match I went with my friend Chuck B. to breakfast and had a splitting headache. And his eyes....anyone that knew Vernon will tell you his eyes would send chills down the toughest man's spine.

I told Chuck "I don't know who that guy is, but I'm not wanting to play him anymore, call down there tomorrow and tell them my dad died and I had to fly home....." (we were supposed to play again the next day).

Chuck did as I told him, then Vernon ended up playing someone else (at Tommy Staton's bar) and won over $15,000....I knew I had "dodged a bullet," and we laughed about that later in Georgia when I met Vernon again under different circumstances. He was a true gambling champion and played ALL games at a championship level, including snooker.

He looked at "tournament players" like they were weak and frail - his famous line was "I'd rather S*#& a D*#@ than play in a pool tournament"..... so your chance of finding a video of him playing is somewhere between "slim" and "none". imho 'The Game is the Teacher' RIP Vernon

I would bet my life there isnt a video of Vernon. I am enclosing one of the few photos of Vernon.

Beard

Although we played against each other, he was my pal, and he was buried with my "Bank on, brother hat" on his head.
