Hi Tony,

First of all, let me make this straight, I don't try to scam or fool anybody at all. I just want to ask you guys, the experts at cues, your opinion on this SW to confirm whether it is a real one or not.

The guy, let call him A, who tried to sell my friend this cue bought this cue from another guy, let call him B. A found out about this SW cue in a local pool forum, where B tried to have it sell as $5,500. B mentioned that the original price was $8,500 and if you order one from SW at this moment you would get it in 2012. All of that is totally against my research on SW, so I was in doubt when my friend to me about this story. So I told my friend to ask A the pictures and the details about the cue so that I could come here and ask you guys. So, A gave my friend the link of the original forum where B originally tried to sell the cue. I got all of the link of the pictures from his post and basically just pasted them here. It is in Vietnamese, my language, so you could have google or someone translate it for you to have some ideas. I am happy to help out if you need any translation as well.

Truth to be told, I just tried to help my friend who felt in love with SW to buy a real one because there are so many fake one out there. So, I am really happy that you showed up and told me the true story. Thank you so much for your help. You ust save my friend a fortune.

I would like to know who was trying to sell this cue (name, email ect) my beef is with that person.

Though it is unlikely there is much I can do from halfway around the world, I do know someone that I can consult with as far as my options are concerned.

Sadly fraud and internet crimes are on the rise due to the economic conditions, but scammers have always been around, just tough times creates more of them!

ACTUALLY, the way to avoid it is to engage in third party escrow OR what I do now is only buy direct from the cuemaker...I am willing to wait to have a cue built to my specs, and all of the cuemakers that I have dealt with have the same policy (not all cuemakers), if you do not like the cue, send it back for a refund or they will build another cue that hopefully works.

My next suggestion if you do not want to wait is to go to one of the many shows and actually PLAY with the cue before you buy it, Ive bought many cues that I received and hated the way they played, then had to resell them, wasting a ton of time...go to a show, play the cue, buy it.

I am glad the owner of the cue was able to step in and clarify.

Just a few weeks ago I was at a friend's house and he has many SouthWest cues on the wall. In another rack he has a SouthWest "style" cue. I asked what it was and he explained that it's an import knockoff that he was sent by a crooked seller. He paid $1800 for this cue. The guy had pictured a real SW and sent a knockoff and then told the police that my friend had switched it. So my friend keeps it on the wall to remind him to do all he can to verify the cue AND the seller before committing to a cue.

I think that a good tip here when trying to verify something is to ask the seller to take another detail picture. If they have the item and are genuinely interested in selling it then they should be able to do so. If they give you the runaround then they either don't have the item or are not really interested in selling it.
