Is this an Omega DPK?

Hi guys,

a friend of mine has a cue with a broken shaft. He doesn't exactly know what cue it is. He said that "it's something with Omega"..... He needs a new shaft and wants to know the exact Pin. Here's a picture:

Is it an Omega DPK? What Pin? 3/8x11 or 3/8x14?

Thank you.

Take a ruler and measure 1" of the pin starting on one of the threads. Now count the number of threads that appear in that 1". This does not look like a 5/16x18 or 14, so I'm going to assume that it's diameter is 3/8. The pin that the original Omega used was a 3/8x14.

Unfortunately, there are two Omegas. The original with Bender and Kersenbrock was just outside of Chicago, and closed it's doors in about 2002. After they closed, another company which I believe resells cheaper import cues took on that same name. As far as this cue being an Omega DPK, it doesn't look like any that I have seen, and I have seen quite a few. Also, this is not a 14 tpi pin.

The type of the metal used in the pin was normally brass and that doesn't look like Brass to me. Also the cues bumper isn't right for a DPK, so in my opinion I think the cue is a Chinese made OMEGA cue.

the cue you have has rounded points & inlayed diamonds. DPK Omega never made a cue like that. You have a cheap Chinese copy, worth $100 if in new condition. Basically it's a piece of crap....JER

The Omega DPK cues normally used stainless or Aluminum for their pins. At least the ones I saw were. That made it a little easier to tell the difference between South Wests and Omega DPK. I agree the bumper looks wrong for a Omega DPK.

Chris, I must have been confused with the Benders I have seen.

Thanks for the correction.

Knock-off radial pin, not ACME=imported Omega to me.

You're 1/2 right Joey, it's an import. The pin isn't import-radial though.
Some of these, IIRC, came with a 12 pitch and I think that this may be one of them.
And what's with that 1st thread at the joint face? Half of it's missing.
One can only imagine how that happened.

Must be the East South cue then.

Ok guys, now I got more information about it. Unfortunately It seems not to be an original DPK, but this doesn't really matter to my friend who owns it.

He only needs a new shaft and therefore wants to know what pin was used for this cue.

Thank you.
