IS THIS SOMETHING NEW (never seen 3/8x10 quik-release)

Those colored pins are anodized aluminum. Uni-Loc did that at first and then they had pins out there with the color coming off after months of play, so they abandoned that method. I suspect these pin makers will have the same experience down the road.

These may hold up better since they are not threading into a metal insert. Wood or phenolic threads should be less abrasive on the color.

It least I hope so. I swapped mine out six months ago. Holding up so far.

So, my wife and kids are away for a few days, hence I am posting up a storm.

She just texted me and asked what I am up to. I told her I am reading about screws on the internet and just saw a beautiful big black one. I offered to forward a picture.

She has yet to respond.

I've used the original Tom M version of this pin for years on all my jump cues. The aluminum pin into a phenolic insert is more secure and lighter than using a Uniloc joint while still being quick to assemble.

Sounds to me like you need to bore out your barrel section another .001"-.0015". You may also be trapping air at the bottom of the alignment barrel. Also, I'm not sure why you'd add grease or soap where you expect epoxy to bond.

Thanks
finally figured that out, I can be a real jerk sometimes.
Also, didn't consider trapped air.

I thought aluminum too but went to the site and I'm pretty sure it says stainless too.
Idk
It really should not matter which metal as a .0005 thick coating is not expected to last forever. IMO.
I am guessing it is possible they are titanium coated which may last longer than anodizing. Time will tell. I was wrong about gorilla glue holding up for decades when coring with it. I thought it would be failing it 10 to 20 years and yet here we are 30 years later and very few problems being reported. I guess with my mind always trying to invent something, that I do not carry half my ideas to the market as I talk myself out of them by thinking about what could go wrong and deciding the negatives out weigh the positives. I think I am a very pessimistic optimist. My wife deserves an award for having to put up with me.

But let me ask you: Aren't standard aluminum pins silver or clear anodized anyway? I never thought of it until right now. I have no aluminum pin cues. Don't they have some kind of oxidation protection?
No. Usually just bare aluminum.

arrived yesterday morning, 3/8 x 10 standard.
Fit shafts perfectly.
Installing into butt was a whole different story, got real tight and squeaky fast.
Base threads fine, no problem.
Wasn't able to get past the 3rd score on Barrell.
Think I should have added a drop of lube? Maybe Murphy's Oil Soap?
(it's a very good pin)
Joint screw Installed ok,
Cut the wrap channel and wrap added.

I said the same thing. But I'm wondering if they used the wrong picture.
Maybe Perry will join in and clarify
I got some inquiry these years asked about radial and 3/8-10 QR join pin, so made few to fill in the empty.
It’s aluminum made, anodized color same as my other colored pin, thanks
