Is this wood "cue worthy"?

I love this^^^. Go directly to the deep end of the pool. If you see water, jump. Not a bad way to live.

Embrace the failure :banghead:

Seriously, the amount of cues I have tossed in the dumpster, the beautiful woods I have ruined, all just because I had an idea. The cues I make now are the result of the failures I have encountered and continue to encounter. It's growth. It's having an open mind and willingness to be wrong. Whether it be how to use certain woods, polish a finish, center a shaft blank, or configure a new design, it all takes stepping out of my comfort zone & risking loss to learn. I don't even really know what it is i'm chasing, or have an end game. I'm just fascinated with cues and enjoy learning.

Good looking cherry wood.
I know rare woods are the rage now, but it's nice to see some wood that is not on the CITES list or cost hundreds of dollars for a turning blank.

Probably the wrong message to quote, but it's mainly directed toward you and this topic. So JC has some cherry wood....I have an approximate 80 year old cherry tree that's going belly up. I believe there might be a burl part to the tree, I'm not a tree guy and can't really tell. Have you ever seen any cherry burl?

I have a small amount though I won't go so far as to say 'world-class', it does exist.
I'm not impressed with it's stability so this will mostly go for butt-sleeves and windows.
Shop around, the 'sellers' will appreciate the business.
Be sure to tell them that I sent you. Lol

Yes, I have seen cherry burl. It's not uncommon, but rarely is large enough to get typical size cue blanks from.

Here's a sugar maple burl I cut a few years ago. Even though it's maple, this is pretty much what most cherry burl looks like, except smaller.

Here's a pic of a couple blanks from the same burl. If I hadn't cut the tree, nobody would convince me it is maple.
