Issues Blowing Up At The Tornado Open

Then maybe the pros will get it, that they don't need a middle man/woman. Get organized and run your own tournaments or get a real job. Johnnyt

Agreed.

It's a flawed model. Pro pool players don't have a product to offer that allows them to make demands. They need to understand that the game relies on the beneficence of the promoters. Slamming her on Facebook is not the answer.

I wasn't going to post anything but it got to the point where I felt I was done wrong.

First I signed up for the 10 ball 3 weeks ago...because of work I couldn't make it...I tried to get my money back but like it says on the website...no refunds...which I understood and didn't make a fuss because rules are rules.

Then I tried to get someone to play in my place, just change the name and she allowed it but then change her mind a couple of hours later...which was disheartening and I was very disappointed but I again understood it was her call and didn't make a fuss or start threads...nothing ( still thought this was a bit of a dick move since this has the best players in the world and who am I going to bring in to play...maybe Willie Mosconi back from the dead, Idk) and the touney was not full, but whatever.

What got me and why I'm posting now, it is because i sent an email to her before she did the draw that I was still trying to make it and that I didn't see my name on the list. The brackets were up and i wasn't there...sent another email and she responded with "i took you off because you told me you weren't coming" she said she didn't see my email...uhmmm we sent 6 emails back and forth and that's the one you didn't see.

So now I'm pissed I was going to be able to make it last minute but now I wasn't in the tournament...and my $550 gone...oh well you live and you learn...this is why Pool is the way it is...

People are going to say there is 2 sides to every story and I understand that...if someone from her camp comes here to try and say I'm a liar I got all the emails, dates and witnesses to prove otherwise.

Again I wasn't going to say anything I even told her that on an email but that was before she took my name off and acted like I didn't even exist, she change the outcome of the tournament by taking my name off, even if I didn't make it someone would have gotten lucky and gotten a free round. I will not say anymore on the subject...this was ridiculous.

How long before the draw did you email her to say you could make it? Did she respond to other emails to you in that time?

If she got the email why wouldn't she put you in? Don't see what motive she would have

I emailed her on Tuesday, ( the only email she didn't) and even if I didn't, my name should have been on the list and the bracket...why take my money otherwise.

If I pay and I can't get my money back I deserve to be put on the list, unless you have a full event which she didn't...idk what else to tell you. There is not too many more details than that. She made an executive decision and it was the wrong decision.

It's obvious she swallowed your $500. Even if you can't make it and there's no refunds you should be on the bracket, the only reason to keep you off the bracket is so the money of another entry isn't noticed.

Yeah, thats gonna work out well, the players running things.....what could go wrong?

Spent the weekend here drove 5 hrs to say the least I'm very disappointed in the event As a spectator I could make a list of disappointments but I'll leave it alone at this I'll do my annual trip to derby much better run event

Hang on...

Well, first off, there are quite a few threads in this forum about tournament advertisement wording or terminology. I do not have time look them up this morning, but there is a difference between money "guaranteed" (key word) or "money added" (based on X number of players).

For those interested, here's what Tony Chohan said on Facebook (edited with punctuation for clarity):

"I just got done speaking to Vivian, and whether it is a misprint or whatever, the tournament is based on 128 players. But an accident, there was somewhere else that says something different, so I'm going to not apologize. But I am going to say that she is trying to do her darndest to help with sport in the right direction. I will leave it at that. She's not a bad person; i's just mistakes happen. And it was the first go, and I hope that next year it will be even better."

=====================

Nope - There was another, more recent, post by Tony, which he recently deleted. That was the one getting all the feedback.

He said, <><>Quote<><> "I feel sorry for anyone having business dealings with Vivian. She is a piece of work. I felt like I was getting punked but the gloves have to come off. You treated each one of us men-pros like we aren't shit. ~Tony Chohan<><>

I asked him why he removed the post and he has yet to answer me.

Cont....

Many top players saw this post and liked it, and dozens of other players, stake-horsse and players commented on it... Those who commented are included in my original post and will be happy to confirm this.

Other people to comment include Jonathan Hernandez, myself, Tracy Whitney of High Pockets and many others.

Again - Tony deleted the post, I asked him why and he hasn't responded.. (I wish I had screen-shot everything on Tony's thread, and intended to, but I hadn't gotten to it).

I did, however, screen-shoot Josh and Mike Davis' posts. (Mike's was on Josh's FB wall). http://easttnnews.com/social-issues/t/

Who Cares?

It's to the point that it doesn't matter to me anymore.

If the players are going to waffle on their thoughts, run scared and cater to "the way things have been" why should anyone care?

If standing up and being a voice for professional pool means "being attacked by a bunch of kiss-ass league bangers who know nothing about the current state of the sport" why should anyone be their whipping boy with no hope for a better day?

I was inspired to see the players finally standing up and I was even more inspired when the threads were not a relentless attack on their characters. Then it was all deleted.

Months ago Shane Winters posted his concerns about the streams making money off the backs of the players and giving little-to-nothing back to the sport.... He too was relentlessly attacked until he was silenced.

Hundreds of players and fans have said it's time to unite the players and keep them and the sport protected from the countless people continuing to rip them and the sport off.

Then - when it's time to unite they go back to the shadows and participate in the same, boring, dead-end grind.

I can agree with your getting refunded if you aren't put into the brackets.

Shane Winters the boxer or the amateur who won the last Super Billiards Expo? Oh you mean the pro player who thinks streamers are getting rich on his matches. Come on man.

Looks like a nice venue.

Well the venue looks great for seating especially.
Does need individual lighting.
My dream for pool would be a place like that, packed for the finals with
one table in the center!
Kinda like in some other countries.
Or early last century USA.
A dream for sure.
Hope VV can get everything straight and it happens next yr.

It's almost hilarious how, when Shane started bringing up this subject people like you said he was not a pro so he had no say in it. THEN - when he won an amateur event the same people screamed that he WAS a pro and didn't qualify to enter.

Which one is it?

Maybe a better approach is to come with a list of suggestions to improve the event. A promoter, especially since this is the first time out of the gate for this event, just may welcome constructive criticism on how to improve next year.

To rip the tournament apart in shreds doesn't help anyone. Come with ways to improve it next time around. I'm sure Vivian herself recognizes areas that need improvement.

Let's make pool great again!

His words sir, not mine.

He's always been a shortstop at best. Can he live on pool alone? If not he's not a pro. I mean what top guys is he beating?

JD,

No offense but what people like you will never understand is that poolplayers want to and do enjoy living by their wits, without resorting to work.

They love being broke, they loving finding a woman to take care of them like their momma did, they love sleeping in their cars, they love being bums, they love the entire lifestyle.

If you gave every player at this tournament $100,000 they would take it to a casino and lose it all. They would not put it in a bank account. They love being broke. Money is a problem for them.

Once this is understood all else is clear.

Dennis

Another pool player knocker. Some things never change. :)

For every pool player who is demeaned and ridiculed on AzBilliards, there is at least a hundred knockers who are, in reality, wannabe pro players. It's must more fun to bash the pros behind a computer monitor.

Huh?

Wow! Is this satire or sarcasm? Humor doesn't carry in text unless you really know what you're doing.

This post absolutely cannot be serious.
