Your cursed cause you turn the CB loose on every break. Learn how to set the CB down in the center of the table, or close, and the curse will be lifted. It's not that hard to learn. Just like any other aspect of the game......Practice, practice, practice. :thumbup:

I used to miss a lot of shots that prevented a runout... Do drills for accuracy.

I really like this advice, but will add my 2 sense to this.

First invest in the BrakRak.
Second watch Colin's video on power breaking.
Then watch Mike Deshane's (sorry spelling here) on the 10 ball break. Then see if that helps. Colin and Mike d two very different things. FYI I switched to more of what Mike does...

Mike, maybe you should post a video of your break? Maybe you can get better advice, if ppl can see what is going on?

I always take advice. I've been very attentive at every lesson I have ever taken. Even if I knew the stuff was worthless and a waste of time.

In the game of 9-Ball you cannot consistently park the CB in the middle of the table. The reason being is because there are about nine other balls flying around the table and most likely going to contact that CB.

Yes, you just need to figure out how to get the 1-ball to hit the side rail BEFORE the side pocket, and you'll have a shot to the corner a large percentage of the time.

Or just rack the two behind the 1 and break from the opposite side rail... just in case the 1 goes in the side, the 2 will come up table also.

That doesn't mean your goal shouldnt be to do that. It's been years since you posted, but your previous threads were all complaining about not being able to run out.. not every rack is a run out. Maybe the problem is the stuff you "knew was worhtless and a waste of time" really wasn't. In this last post alone you are damning the advice of parking the cueball in the center of the table. Which is a strategy that most pros who are not cut breaking are attempting to do.

What's even worse IMO is that when you get the opportunity to run the rack, you gotta know it was just a lucky smash of the balls that got you there.

Play straight pool, set up a break shot and shoot it. Now,,, nothin is stoppin you but you. Try to get to 50. Now you're playin pool. :thumbup:

Aint that the truth, but how many times do we not have a shot after a 14.1 B.I.H. breakshot ???? LOL (brutal game that 14.1)

And its apparently never, ever going to stop. I break and I break and I break and I break and never ever, except on a rare occasion, do I ever get a chance to run the table.

I went down to my GCIV last night and broke 17 times and only one time did I have a chance - and it was extremely difficult at that. I just got back from downstairs where I broke 10 times and never had one chance - period.

The last break the 1-Ball hid at the last minute behind the 7-Ball and I just threw the break cue down and walked away.

I know I haven't posted much the last few years, and this is primarily the reason why. I don't know why this is happening, but apparently it is indeed going to be a lifelong issue.

Sorry did not read all posts, but curious what is your skill level? if you are a B it is hard for you to run an open table with a ball in hand! if an A you will have a better chance. In another word you should not miss easy to medium hard shots, other wise you need to go back to the drawing board and master the 4000 possibilities shots.
Of course a good solid break brings OBs close to pockets and you will be able to run them, how often! depends on how consistent your aim and stroke during break shot..

I played Steve Gumphrey once on a trap table, I got him to spot me the break, but this table was nearly impossible to make a ball, he knew it and trapped me. Some tables and conditions don't allow balls to just fall in, you could have one. If your garden level and your in a damp climate, these conditions often make breaking balls a disadvantage.
