iTrader Issues

Although I plan to slow down LOL, I have been a frequent buyer on AZ. I have bought many cues, cue tools, cases and other items.

Usually (but not always) the seller waits until I receive the item and then leave him/her a positive iTrader before leaving one for me.

As the buyer my part of the bargain is to pay promptly. As long as I do that I have fulfilled all my responsibilities in the transaction and should immediately receive an iTrader rating.

The seller's part of the bargain takes longer to complete and is not fulfilled until the item is properly packed, shipped and received in good shape by the buyer. At that time it is proper to leave an iTrader rating.

What happens basically is that the seller holds the buyer's rating hostage until the buyer leaves an iTrader rating.

Is it too much to ask for the seller to leave an iTrader after payment is received and not wait until the buyer receives the item?

Anybody else have any iTrader bad experiences?

Sorry, I do not agree.

Part of being a GOOD buyer is being a HAPPY buyer.
A deal is not complete until the buyer recieves their item without buyers remorse, without forgetting to pick it up at the post office, without some nit complaining about something insignificant,:( without their neighbor stealing it, without many other possibilities that could make a good deal go bad on the buyers end after they paid.
Of course most of the time thankfully there are normally not problems like those.
But, there are also some buyers that will forget to leave ITrader in return.
Waiting till the deal is complete leads to a quicker back to back exchange.

I would not call it holding your rating hostage, I personally think it avoids miscommunication and misunderstandings. I think that by waiting you can with some assurance make certain that the deal is satisfactory to both buyer and seller and I doubt that anything is more important than that. The extra time in my opinion is worth the wait, and no one should receive a positive rating if the transaction is not completed to both parties satisfaction.

I do not agree with you, too. Same reasons given by the rest.
And waiting for just a few days more for things to complete isn't that painful, is it?

couldnt agree more....it gives them the time to give you one with there approval....

I agree with everyone in general but I have had the I-trader shaft on here as well. I bought a cue awhile back on here and paid cash to the guy and then left him his I-trade feedback. He had said he would do the same for me as well. Well I never saw the I trade feedback on my behalf and I still sit at zero. I figure the system is not perfect and yes it comes down to the parties involved. I just chalked it up as he was probably busy and just had not found time or he may have simply joined to sell a cue. He only had around 30 post and has not logged in for awhile, so I think he more than likely forgot. That being said I do think that people should at least login and leave I-trade feedback once a transaction is complete because it helps establish a member with the others. But I do agree that it should wait until both parties are satisfied with the results.

This is true in some cases but I as well as many other people on here have sold cues with the understanding that the buyer needed some time to come up with all the money. I know I only have a 50 itrader but I have sent cues to several countrys and have worked with people when they really want a cue but need a little time to gather the funds. I remember a few years ago I sent a cue to California to a guy in the military who had asked if he could pay for it when he got back to the states which was in two week's. I said that would be fine and when he returned he promptly paid and in two days he had the cue. For the most part, the majority of people you deal with are honest and are just doing the same thing as everyone else when it comes to buying, selling and trading cues, case's etc.

When making a transaction with someone you have never delt with it is not a big deal to wait until both the buyer and seller have received their money and item and then leave feedback if both parties are happy. I have bought and sold cues to people I have delt with many times and left it as soon as the deal was done, the bad thing with this is what if the item is lost or damaged or if the payment is lost. I have also had several dealings on here where no itrader was left at all, most of them were shortly after I became a member and in all honesty I probably did not leave some for other people when I was new and still getting the hang of it all.

I agree with the majority here that ratings should be done once both parties are satisfied. What if someone sends money, the seller leaves a great rating, and then the buyer turns into a whiney little panty waist? Should that buyer have a good rating in their file? Also, is having instant ratings put up that important? If you've done a lot of stuff around here you should have plenty in your file for people to look at. What's the rush?

After reading all the comments I understand the points made.

I guess I was just stung by the old eBay rating system too much where a buyer could never leave a low rating without expecting one in return even though the seller refused to honor the deal or some other similar reason.

In those days a bad rating really hurt even if you did nothing to deserve it.

But in a closed and relatively small group like AZ, then it does make more sense to complete the deal fully.

Thanks for your input.

Ron

p.s. I have never received or given a bad rating after dozens of transactions. However, there have been some sellers who had to be prodded to reciprocate even after I left a positive result for them.

I was sent $850 for a plain jane Joss that belonged to Jim Rempe. I sent the cue the moment funds arrived and posted glowing feedback. I also paid Mr. Rempe as I was selling the cue for him.

About a week later, the funds were removed from my account because the buyer was fraudulent and used another person's stolen credit card to make payment.

I got beat by a thief for more money than I could afford to lose at the time, I gave up a collectable cue to a scumbag and the worst memory of it all was how I gushed praise to him for being a good communicator and paying promptly.

You want feedback...you will need to send good feedback, as the buyer, first. Also, paypal allows the buyer to submit a claim that they never got the item. If the seller cannot PROVE they sent the item, as with a signed delivery confirmation, they lose the money. So good feedback from the buyer becomes proof of the sale for the seller and only then protects him against some forms of fraud.

Checks bounce, funds become invalid, buyers claim the item never arrived, the post office damages packages...there are plenty of reasons for a seller to withhold feedback till he gets some from the buyer.

I appreciate that your job is done when you send payment Ron, and that you have been a stand up buyer, buy try being a stand up seller for a while...you'll see plenty of reasons to be careful and perhaps, like me, you'll be bitten and choose to hold everyone's itrader point hostage until you get yours.

The problem with an Itrader type system is retalliation. To many times has there been sellers not properly representing items, not shipping them, etc.. also there has been bad buyers as Drawman has attested to. I-trader only works when both parties are happy. When one is not, it turns into a he said she said, or something worse.

Selling cues is not an easy endevour. One mans straight is anothers warped like a boomerang. Mint, very good condition, excellent condition, slightly played, are all open to inerpretation.

There should be a way that a bad seller cannot leave retallitory feedback. If the case is cut and dry not only should they not be allowed to do so, they should be banned for a specific amount of time.

Of couse I think the same of guys who say yes I'll take it and send you the payment and never follow through. Can we get an I-trader tirekicker rating?
