It's always the Indian Boyz and Girls

I can shoot the lights out with a mop handle if I had to. Doesn't mean I want to.

I would never say a specific cue makes me shoot better. But damn if some cues don't just feel better in the hands..
A lot of it relates to confidence when it comes down to equipment. Past successes vs failures, etc... if you like the axe in your hand, chances are you might play a wee bit better than with a strange cue, but for those fortunates who are battle hardened and can adapt to whatever is in their hands at the time, that doesn't apply.
Mental toughness. Unconscious competence.

I always despised that expression. Yeahhhh it IS more about talent of the player or whomever it is in whatever field of endeavor. As a comparison though, look at race car drivers, they can all drive well, but they’re going to be quite a bit better behind the wheel of a Ferrari than in a Ford Escort.
