Believe the "v" stands for vinyl, if the case has a woven shoulder strap with "It's George" woven in it, it is one of their vinyl cases.

The "V" stands for vinyl as previously posted. I got burned on E Bay thinking that it was Model number V or 5. I didn't know that they made a vinyl case until I got it. It didn't had the same look as my leather case. Still protected the cue as well but it is not leather as I thought.

You can always check to see if it is vinyl or leather by putting a hot cigarette to it. If it burns it is vinyl if not it is leather.

Interesting,do you check Ivory the same way?I just ask because over the years I have seen several cues with burn marks on the Ivory or plastic parts.

Don't burn the case. The George V was a lower priced vinyl model. It went for about $30 less than the leather at the time. Here is an original Its George flyer.

Antique dealers actually test ivory by getting a needle red hot and touching it to a small hidden area of the ivory in question. If it is real it will burn slightly and produce a very pungent smoke that smells kind of like burning hair.

Contact Greg Howard at howardscues@yahoo.com

He has a nice tan lizard leather one, (original not Brunswick) , 2 X 4 and he knows where he can get his hands on some very nice ones.

You can usually tell in pics if the cases are leather or vinyl because the vinyl has a very thin seam on the side. The vinyl ones are not very good.

I have a section on my site dedicated to George Cases, here's the link:

I have seen this done to many cues, and there is no good reason. You can tell if it is Ivory without burning the object. Please,if anyone is thinking of using this method, don't!

V - vinyl

without - leather

Well this just makes me sick. I had one of those "It's George" leather cases and I lent it to a friend and her husband left it in their car with their cue and it got stolen. It was a 2x4. Gee, I wonder how much that was worth! :(
