It's official Strickland Vs SVB Bar Box 8,9 & 10-Ball

ENGLISH, I hope I didn't come across wrong. I was not reffering to you or anoine else for that matter but it had been mentioned before about Earls's relationship with TAR and so I just wanted all to know where I stand on that issue. I have alot of respect for justin and TAR for what they do and I didn't want anyone to think that I was trying to compete with TAR on this deal.
English I appreciate your support as always.

All's good. I just wanted to make it clear that I too was not trying to demean TAR's decision either.

I can feel your excitement. I wish the event was happening tonight.

Regards,

I like the idea of 25% 8 ball, 25% 9 ball, 25% 10 ball, and 25% winner or else 20%, 20%, 20% and 40% for the winner. However you do it, I am looking forward to it.
Andy

I am very excited for this opportunity, not only to cover two of the world's most talented players but also to be working with new characters in the billiard community.

POV Pool is going to great lengths behind the scenes to deliver improvements to the show for your viewing pleasure.

Unlike other events I have streamed in the past, you will NOT see these matches posted to YouTube! This will be a one-time opportunity to watch 'The Decider'. Final PPV ticket pricing and rates should be established within the next week or so. Please stand by on this.

A big thanks to Mark Cantrill for contacting me about this event, to Shellie's Country Cafe for posting up the prize fund, to The Fraternal Order Of Eagles for additional sponsor support and especially to Earl & Shane!

It'll be a great event!

You continue to impress me.

Lining this up? Kissinger couldn't but you did, lol. Well done and thank you.

The Legends and Champions pool Tour are happy to announce another Pro Challenge match. The match will be called "The Decider" And will be three days of fun and excitement with two of the greatest pool players on the planet. Earl "The Pearl" Strickland and the "South Dakota Kid" Shane Van Boening. This event will be a three day action packed mix of 8-Ball, 9-Ball and 10-Ball. All races to 30 on a Bar table and will be held at the Eagles 16 lodge in Helena, Montana on August 2nd, 3rd and 4th. Friday the 2nd will start at 6.00pm and then on Saturday and Sunday will start at 2.00pm. The schedule of games played are to be determined.

This will be a match where every rack counts not just winning the set. All racks will count in the final result. In plain English, whoever wins the most racks over the weekend wins. So for example if Shane wins day one 30 to 25, he is 5 racks ahead and then if he wins day two 30 to 25 he is 10 racks ahead. Therefore on day three Earl would have to really come with it as he would be 10 racks behind with 30 racks up for grabs. Again this will make for an exciting three days of play.

Most know that These Champions have played challenge matches on different sized tables. Earl beat Shane when they played on a TAR mach on a 10 foot table, then Shane won the TAR match on a 9 foot table and so it only makes sense to play the "Decider" on bar table with a mix a different games.

This event will be a Pay Per View event, we are working with Daniel Busch of POV Pool to try and keep the price for the three days as low as possible and that will be announces also. POV Pool made it very clear that this match will NOT be appearing on youtube a few days after the match as they usually do and so the only time to see this will be during the event itself. We will be looking into the possibilities of looping the match over the weekend for those who have purchased.

This time our main sponsors and the reason this match is happening are Shellie's Country Cafe and the Fraternal Order Of Eagles in Helena, Montana. I will be announcing our other sponsors once we have them all in place. A very BIG thank you to Shellie's Country Cafe who put put the majority of the money for "The Decider" and and other big thanks you to the F.O.E who didn't hesitate to jump on board.

Admission to the event will be just $25.00 per person for the whole weekend and please feel free to contact Mark Cantrill at cantrillmark@yahoo.com if you have any questions.

Let the games begin. This looks like it will be a good one: Old School versus the New Guard.

Montana, huh? Wow! I wonder if Jack Madden knows about this. He might be interested in attending since it's up in his neck of the woods.

I wish you all the best success, Mark. Good match-up!

good to see you putting together another show, i remember when it was all talk a few years back,i knew then you were going to make things happen, i was in the car going to Derby or JOB's when we first spoke, then many times again, you did it man!!!! Good job, i wish you the best.

and IMO your not competing wth TAR, Accustats, BB, or anyone else putting on a show, Lord knows the players need the paydays and the fans are buying the shows, whats wrong with that? Nobody is squeezing anyone out of the market.

From one biz man to another, your relationship with the talent(players) is the most important thing you can have, if they like you and your fair with the $$$ they will be there for you. Thats how to succeed in this biz, you have their repect the rest falls into place. I'm sure you know that, just reaffirming what you know. the promoters that burned the players dont get a 2nd chance.

best of luck mate,

eric
Thanks for your support as always Eric. I also appreciate everyone elses support.

Jam, I know that Montana seems a little off the beaten path but thats probably exactly why its going to be there. They Do not get many pros in that neck of the woods and so this will be good for them. I also have a great relationship with alot of people in Montana that I have built over the past few years and they said "Mark bring something special to us" Thats how we got to Montana. I hope to be able to bring more events in the future. Like McCready vs ??? :)

I know "The Decider" seems like a long way away but it will be here before I know it. I will be working on a few things in the near future for contests leading up to the event. Things like a couple of free PPV passes, and some other things that I can get my hands on. Nothing too big just something to have fun with.

Total games won to decide the match with alternating breaks, limits the players abilities. If they're behind, they have little chance of catching a gear and getting ahead. Let them string racks. Why play an ahead match when you can't run more than one rack? I like the idea when I play, that I can keep my opponent in the chair.

Alternating breaks is a handicap for the better player. It was invented by the same guy that started handing out participation trophies at competitions. You don't have to bring it nowadays to be a winner. Let's go old school and give them incentive to play for the prize.

Best,
Mike

Match recorded?

Any chance that this matchwill be recorded and available to purchase later? I'm sure there would be plenty of people who would love this option, especially the ones who will be working during the match.

It would also be nice to see these two play another long match on a 10 footer again. There are a lot of people who still think that the TAR 20 match was rigged to benefit Earl but consider this, was the table made easier to play on or tougher? IMO, it was made more difficult to play on so it would take a better shooter to win. If the pockets were tightened and the rails were out of whack, you better be able to drill the center of the pocket so you can take the rails out of the equation. Shane impresses me as he can quickly adjust and adapt to the circumstances, but for whatever reason, he could not figure that table out. On pockets he knew were playing tight, he kept trying to make the same shots over and over that were not working for him. He should have realized that if a shot runs down the rail and bobbles in the pocket, maybe try not to put yourself in that same shot sequence. This is a guy who can navigate the cue ball around the table like it has a steering wheel on it so this is something he could have controlled.

What I don't understand, is whenever Earl scores the win it is supposedly due to a rigged table or he got lucky Shane missed. Why can't he just be given credit for the win? Is it possible that he may have shot good enough to actually earn the win? If he shot good enough to make it hill/hill, I would have to say he earned it. If Shane was up 19-3 in a race to 20 and the tip of his cue flew off, took out his eye and he ended up losing over this, I would consider that lucky for Earl. Shane missing a shot for the win and causing him the match was not luck, he just simply missed a shot he should have made and Earl took advantage of it. I appreciate both of these players abilities and they each have a strong following. This being said, I am not a guy who appreciates Earl's antics but I absolutely love to watch him shoot pool. Unfortunately the two come in a package too often.

007, I am sure that there will be an option to buy the match on dvd or another form of media in the future if there is enough demand for it. We shall cross that bridge when we come to it. For right now our goal is to put out the best possible product we can and the best price possible. Once we get past that hurdle I am sure we will be looking to if there is a realistic demand. Thank you very much for your interest and all I can say is stay tuned.

At Valley Forge this year Earl could not stop talking about how 9ft tables were too small. I imagine playing on a seven footer will displease him even more lol

I totally agree with this. If I'm going to watch two of the best play, I want to see just what they can do. Not just watch them limited to one rack run at a time. I can go watch league players to see that. I want to see who "can bring it".

OK the world must be coming to an end, I agree with Neil.

I don't think I would even watch this match if its alternate break.
If it's on a bar box that makes alternate break even worse.
Part of the fun is seeing what a guy can do after his has been in his chair for a while.
That is why it's called the "hot" seat, the seat can't get hot if you are up every other rack.

Yes, I am rather surprised that Earl has agreed to play this match. It seems his advantage is on the 10 footer

I believe that Earl has a soft spot for Shane, and will participate in events with Shane that he might not with anyone else. And I think that fact also has him trying to be less "Earl-like" in those scenarios, because of his fondness for Shane. Shane seems to be the one player that Earl respects these days.

Just an opinion, based on his interviews the last few years.
