News Flash ~ Mike Sigel wins 9-2 in the second match out of 3 today. Mike winning $100,000 and Lori placing a cool second at $75,000. Not bad for a day's work and it's about time that there is some money in this sport. Sigel came up dry on the break once but never missed a ball after that!

The audience was standing room only and the attendees included Mikes lovely wife and my good friend Renee Sigel along with Ronnie Allen, Nick Varner, Jim Rempe and Lou Butera. Other notables scene were Paul Sorvino and Thomas Hearns.

Congratulations and great shooting Mike Sigel from The Staff and Players here at AZBilliards.com

More information coming late tonight.

Who didn't know that!

But still, I hope it gives pool a shot in the arm and I am 100% optimistic about the IPT!

Great, can't wait to see pictures from somebody.

If I don't see this reported on espn tonight.....man I will not be happy, I mean hey whats a few seconds of time to say something about this, has pool ever been on the news?

Was it 100 for first or 150?

The original press release on Az was:
"IPT World 8-Ball Championship" will be awarded $100,000 cash with the runner-up receiving $50,000

I kept hearing it get higher from then on....

Boy oh boy were Mike and Lori dumb to get involved with KT and the IPT.

I heard they were last seen walking out the door singing, "Hi Ho, Hi Ho, it's off to the bank we go".

One last question?

How many male Professional Pool players made that much money all last year?

For that matter made that much in the last two years? or three years?

Well, hopefully we will see a bunch of the pros get well paid when they appear at the Convention Center in Orlando come November.

I seem to recall Mike saying a few years ago that the only way he would come out of retirement was if the money got good enough. I guess it got good enough!

Come on guys

Did anybody actually get paid? This has all the makings of a good confidence scam. Before anybody starts...no I don't think everything needs to be a conspiracy. Look anything this good doesn't need to be sold this hard.

World 8 ball Championship my bum. Let's see next week all on my own I'm going to have my own Tournament...let call it the US Open. It by invitation only and I'm giving 30 million dollars to the winner. Contestants me and my 3 year old Daughter. Seeing as I'm putting up more money the conventional US Open is null and void. Sorry Barry.

If a year from now I'm wrong...I'll eat it. In the meantime why don't all you "believers" go buy one of KT's "programs". I'm told he's got a special program for gullible fools with body odour. It includes a free juicer and potatoes peeler and is rumoured to cure the common cold.

Nick, anything has to be "sold this hard," scam or not, if it is to be successful, that's why it happened in the real world and isn't still just a dime-a-dozen idea.

As for your tournament idea, do the work to create it, make the investments to set it up, and pay, pay, pay to market the piss out of it like Kevin did, actually pull it off, and then we'll compare the two...OK?

It happened, deal with it.

Your going to need some Mega Memory

Deal with it....every day people get up the scratch or investor(s) to open or start an enterprise. What makes it a success is whether it can sustain it's self. Your being naive.

Everyone is so desperate to see some money in the game that they are willing to look the other way when it comes to this modern day snake oil salesman.

Here is the risk. All the "other" federations/group fold their tents because they can't compete with the money that is supposedly being thrown around and after it all implodes there is no one around to pick up the pieces.

Lets do the math:
1. What kind turn out would he have had with a 225K added tourney?
2. Would not the Top100 players come out?
3. Only Mike Seagal could win on tight pockets with slow cloth...whatever

Why a two player invitational with two past greats? Three people can keep a secret. 100 Players expect to get paid.

Think of the buzz.
Vegas. $1000 entry. 256 Players. 500K winner take all. Now that's something. Would Mike Seagal come out for that (assuming of coarse tight pockets and slow cloth)?

Put it in your calendar. Come back and remind me a year from now. Just in case your unsure...go check his website. You might need a little MegaMemory after all this is done.

Jean Balukas deserved it more but she wouldn't have been as CAMERA friendly.
