I know for me this tournament will be the closest thing to the US open that I get to actually play in. So I guess I don't mind the format. And if the tables are easy than that is somewhat an advantage to the weaker player. On a tough table i don't think anyone can beat Justin. He's too smart of a player and can out move you as well as out shoot you. With big pockets and nap cloth, if justin makes a dry break I am very capable of getting out on an easy table. I can get out on a tough table too but not nearly as often. I think personally that this gives the weaker player a chance at least. Well Good luck to all out there. I'm heading out to Arizona tommorow. In the mean time I'll be at Clicks.

Smart analogy Tony. But don't expect Justin to play safe & move too often.

Alot of the best players I meet always seem to go for outs. I asked one of the best 8 ball players I know why he always seems to go for an out even if there isn't one there. He said because he hates to give up the table to anyone, "When I'm sitting down anything can happen....but when I'm shooting I can control everything."

Well I don't expect Justin to Move to often but I know that when it is a contest of who out moves who first Justin has always got the best of it. Even if he's the one kicking at balls. So on an easier table I think it would be easier for a player like me to upset a good player. Well to be honest. I move a bit better than most my age but I'm not a shotmaker. So when it comes down to moves I think I can compete with anyone except the top 4-5 players. But then again I haven't seen any of the players going. So I guess we'll see. Everyone....Wish me luck. I might not be the best player but I sure am the best looking player. :p

Yep, you are not going to 3 foul Justin. You can only hope to slow him down.

Good luck Tony. Keep enjoying yourself.

Both my girl division picks are on the hill. Anna Kostanian and Liz Lovely.
Jeff Berger won a match on the loser's side and then lost the next one 5-7.
I predict the winner of Pahdahsung Shognosh and Austin Murphy will win the 14 and under. Pahdahsung plays really strong.

I lost to Daniel Rankin and Some chump. He played good on me but used a lot of shark tactics and frustrated me. My first match in the losers I deserved to lose ubt not to be rude but if I was playing anyone else I would have lost. then my next one I played a poor sport who gave me a slug rack every rack after I went up 7-4 in the race to 9. I started to get frustrated and all he would say was they were tight. So whatever, I lost 9-8 but that guy won't ever beat me on any other given day. I liked my chances against Kevin Peterson. I'm not saying I was the favorite but I think I could trade blows with him. Well anyway, I'm out, I left so fast and upset that I lost my last match that I didn't even bother to look at what my placing was. Whatever. I was way too upset and still kind of holding a grudge against it. I guess everything happens for a reason.

Oh and when I left rankin was going to play Justin Bergman for the hot seat.

I wouldn't under estimate this kid at all. This guy gets out from anywhere. He put a pretty good hurting on me. Well anyway, I'm not one of the elite few but I could honestly say I was about anywhere from the top 5-8 players. Justin, Daniel, Chad Palmer played real good, ummm, Kevin, This tall kid....his name is drawing a blank right now but he got knocked out when I did. HE was far better than the player that beat him. I would say he was one of the top few and I guess I would have to say 2-3 others that I can't remember their names but can recognize a face. I had fun...except for losing of course. :D Well I would definitely gamble with any of them except Justin and Daniel, and maybe Chad. I didn't really get to gauge his game though. Well anyway, I would have to say that I might be underdog in these matches but I'll sure give them hell if I don't win. Well that's it for me. Oh and Jeff was a far better player than alot of those kids. I would put him in the top 5 as well. Good luck next year Jeff.

My pick, Liz Lovely, for the 14 & under girl's division won. Austin Murphy wins the 14 & under boys division. My two 19 & under division picks are in the finals on the hill: Justin Bergman and Anna Kostanian.;)

I just got off the phone with Justin about an hour ago. He won in the finals, 9-1. I guess the other player shouldn't have mouthed off that he was going to beat Justin 9-0, 9-0 to double dip him. That set fire into Justin. The only game the other player won is because Justin had to jack up, spear this ball in & scratched when he drew it back.

Justin will be back in St Louis in 2 weeks if anyone cares to do anything.

Centerville 14-year-old wins 9-ball tournament
Lovely calls earning girls national billiard title 'easy.'
Dayton Daily News

TUCSON, Ariz. | Centerville resident Elizabeth Lovely won the 14-and-under girls division national title Sunday at the Billiard Congress of America Junior & Collegiate 9-ball Championships.

Lovely, who emerged from a field of five on the University of Arizona campus, defeated Chelsea Hardwick five games to three after advancing to the finals Saturday by defeating the same opponent, 5-2.

The tournament was double elimination.

"It was pretty easy," said Lovely, who qualified by winning a regional event in Columbus. "In (14-and-under), the girls usually aren't that good."

A better test for the pool prodigy awaits July 26 in Peoria, Ill., where Lovely, 14, is scheduled to compete in her first pro tournament.

How did she get so good?

"I've been playing for a few years," she said. "We have a table at our house. My dad took me to a local pool hall, where there was a tournament. It looked like fun, so I started playing."

The game of 9-ball is played with nine object balls numbered one through nine and a cue ball. On each shot, the first ball the cue ball touches must be the lowest numbered ball on the table, but the balls need not be pocketed in order. The winner pockets the 9-ball.

Elizabeth is the daughter of Richard Lovely and Karen Joseph.
