Gwen's up said:Please explain to me why this cue is worth $12,000+ dollars!
I look at AZ alot, I go to the cue show at Valleyforge...I see alot of cues.
I'm no professional or builder or anything so maybe there is a reason that I am unaware of? Special materials, special teqhnique? ??
Many cues here on AZ seem to have much more detail or decoration and sell for MUCH MUCH less.
Why so expensive?
Don't get me wrong, It is very nice, but I'm not sure it is $12,000 nice!
Please advise.
Owning a Barry cue is going to be like owning an original Picasso some day. His father was to cuemaking what Socrates was to Philosophy. Barry makes cues in the same tradition only (from what I've heard) Barry will never make the number of cues Gus did. Consider that and the fact that anything that leaves his shop is flawless. So you've got the name, the tradition, the quality and playablility. I played with a Gus and a Barry and I can comfortably say they were 2 of the best 4 cues I've ever shot with. So you've got all these factors right off the top. Now here's what makes this cue even better: Ivory joint and buttcap is fairly rare and this is the only Koa Szam I've ever seen. Thats not to say its the only one but its definitely one of the few. Collectors obviously value rarity so the price will go up for that. I doubt anyone will ever say that a Szam (Gus or Barry) is the fanciest cue they've ever seen but from a collectors standpoint, you might have a really fancy original painting by Frank Somebody that is just beautiful to look out and have a lot of detail but my less detailed, simpler Original Vincent Van Gogh is worth MUCH MUCH more.
I hope this helps explain it.

Great cue by the way. You wouldn't happen to need a kidney would you?
