So i'm having a ebony and ivory cue built, and it will have a ivory joint. My only issue is what ivory joint type should i get.
Solid ivory: I have hit a couple cues with a solid ivory joint and really didn't care for them.
Ivory sleeve: I have owned one ivory sleeved cue. It was a McDaniel. Ivory over phenelic 5/16 14 i believe. It was still a bit too soft for me.
Ivory and SS: I have never played with this combo. I've seen two cues with this type of combination; Black Boar and Tascarella. It seems they have two different styles. I have never seem them up close but BB looks like piloted ivory 5/16 14 with a ss top and Tascarella uses a ivory sleeve over ss piloted 5/16 14.
I generally like wood to wood cues but i'm starting to want a little harder hit, but SS joints still seem to hit too hard.
So, my question is how do the bb and Tascarella's ivory joints play? Do they play soft like pure ivory joints? Do they play like SS with the look of ivory? How to they compare to McDaniel's ivory joint? Any info would help me out, thanks!
