Am I missing something

Those inlay were done by Gus? The Butt looks off as well. Not saying you are not telling the truth, just saying it is very unique cue if it is.

Or are you saying it is a GS Blank? If so, who made the cue?

I'm not saying "No Way!", but no way! Maybe the blank was made by Gus, but I can't recall seeing any curved diamonds on his cues. That bumper doesn't look like his type. And the flat-faced wood joint?? Something is strange here.

In another thread I just said "never say never"....but on this one I'm saying never. :) Maybe the prong. that's it.

Here is a beautiful Gus Szamboti. It has a flat faced ivory joint with a 3/8-10 pin. 2 original shafts and has been verified by Barry. It is for sale to US buyers only; pm me for price. I just thought everyone would want to see this one!!!!! :D

I don't think so....
Come on.. That inlay isn't Gus.. I especially like the ebony insert diamond with the nice round edges..LOL
Verified by Barry?.. I don't think so...

I'm almost positive that is an Abear cue built with a Gus blank....In fact, I am pretty sure I've spoken with the previous owner about purchasing that cue....

Do you have a picture of the pin?

The butt cap is wrong! There is no way in Hell the inlays are his. I would also bet the nose is not either. I think an Ivory joint would be extremely rare. Are the points Ivory??? If so thats even more rare I think?? Nice cue but not correct !!

I apologize for what I have said in this thread. Apparently the owner of this cue is not telling the truth about who made it. This is not a Gus Szamboti and has never been verified by Barry or even seen by Barry. I'm sorry for the mis-information.

I'm positive it's an Abear cue with a Gus Szamboti forearm. I had an email from one of the previous owners when I was searching for Abear cues, but I deleted the email a little while back. I don't forget cues very often though. You may still be able to get in touch with Steve Hebert. There is also someone on AZ that is good friends with him, but I don't remember his SN. You might put a thread asking for contact info for him. He could verify for sure....

No PROB...it takes something WAY stronger than this weak (97lb) imposter to flim-flam this site:cool:

once you verify what it is....and if you are looking to sell it, please let me know! I'm always searching for Abear cues anyway!!

The cue was made with a Gus blank but the inlays, taper and shaft were done by Abear roughly I believe 8+ years ago maybe longer I was the 3rd owner back in 2002. I never got a letter from Abear because he was moving @ the time and I never followed up on it.

@ the Reno open they were trying to sell it for $12,000 and splitting the profit above $3,000 thinking nowone would do there homework on the cue.

The new owner of the cue lives in Reno and I know its for sale again cause he's hurting for money.

Also Aball was just trying to help him sell it and make alittle $$$ on the side only. I wasnt making anything of the deal I already sold it a few months ago. I didnt even know this thread had started till last night when a friend told me my old cue was on here.

Anyways take it for what it worth.
