Can't wait to get mine from Jim:wink:
Mike, that is really neat!
-The figure or grain doesn't go all the way through material .
I am using a live cutter to cut mine .
The material seem pretty hard .
You can see the grain doesn't run all the way through the material .
It doesn't match Ivory ................
In other words if you had a broken ivory joint , this fake ivory will not match the color of natural ivory used other places in the cue.

The trick I used to get full grain in the piece is to use the larger size rod and cut the desired section of the grain pattern your after. It cost more and there is much more time and waste in this process but if it's the full grain look your after it can be accomplished.

Hi Rob
I never thought of that.
You made a butt sleeve that has figure or grain going all the way around it ?
When I bought mine I was under the impression it was figured all the way through .
Why don't they just make it full grain from the factory......
Not displeased but surprised the pieces didn't have the grain running all the way through them .
Unfortunately, I thought the same & hope full grain. But it has technical restriction, it's the way it comes.
But we had a Arvorin PLUS pattern which have grain looks like net, it's equal view from different side. but cost is an issue, it's around 3 times than Arvorin. That's why I haven't introduce yet.
I may buy few samples to show you guys later.

This is the prototype arvorin that was not released due to some issues, it's darker in color and the grain is beautiful and throughout.
Perhaps we can figure something out to bring it to the market.
ITS NOT CHEAP AT ALL.
Better pic later. Been working in the shop at night/trying to avoid the heat of the daytime sun.

Someone mentioned "cost" ......well, how much can it be?
Accept that the future of ivory is in question nationally.
In CA at the present, ivory has "no" future whatsoever.
So if you were a CA cue-maker, or any cue-maker, and
wanted a substitute material for something you can't use,
it really becomes "damn the expense" & just use or get it.
This material looks so much better than what's available
and I hope there's expanded use of it for ferrules & joints.
I mention those specifically since that's where ivory really
distinguishes itself and creates a different feel & acoustics.
Both of those are key reasons why ivory is so popular but
since it's a bleak outlook for ivory, we sure need a good
alternative/substitute for cues which so far hasn't happened.

This stuff was less expensive than most of the ferrule & joint material I've purchased.
We will see how it compares, but right now I'm a little skeptical.

I will put some arvoin2 on a ferrule tonight. We've got three formulas that we've worked with. Arvorin 1,arvorin 2 and a arvorin plus that's in the works.
I've got arvorin 1 on a break cue and I'll put arvorin 2 on a playing cue <~ I'll try to get it done tonight.
I'll respond with follow up.
