Hi,

I got around 250-300 USD to spend for an efficient jump break cue.

I consider McDermott Stinger or Tiger Icebreaker at the moment, as they're the one I know about.

I've had Joss break cue but I decided I prefer something that hits a little harder (and I also need a jump cue, cause I want to learn them).

Which one of those two would you recommend and why ? Maybe something else ?

There are alot of custom cue makers that make break jumps in your price range.....others are mace sledgehammer and the stinger ain't bad either. I love house cue j/b conversions....I have made several before and will make a few more when i get the time.

The Poison's are pretty good for around $200 - do both well.

What was wrong with the Joss?

check out a jacoby, i think they are in your price range. heavy hitter is 265 and weighs 20-24 oz. have you tried a heavy breaker? get alot of ball action with an easy stroke. also a j/b is made more for breaking as opposed to jumping.

Heck, I have a "Players" J/B. I can get up and over from inches away to 1/2 a table up and over. Of course I have a Madman Tip on it from Juan that helps an old mans game.

So is it worth the extra $ to get the Jacoby over McD stinger ?

I know its custom opposed to production but I'm talking about functionality here not aesthetics.

I have tried countless break/jump cues, but have found none that break *AND* jump very well. If it can't do both well, why bother with the extra joint in the middle? My advice: get a dedicated break cue and a dedicated jump cue. It'll cost you more, but it'll be worth it.

Shameless plug: For a truly innovative jump cue, check out my Top Hat Popper: http://www.top-hat-cues.com/break-jump.htm

Totally agree...... J/B cues are a compromise .......... dedicated cues just work better.

Already received my stinger and I love it. The hit is crisp and solid, thought you have to hit clear, otherwise balls will fly ;)

if you can find Kevin Varney, buy it, best j/b in my opinion
I was selling a guy a break-cue in our room and he
tryed the BK2 and a Varney. After about a hour of trying them out he bought
the Varney. He couldn't believe how he controlled the cue-ball and made countless balls break after break.
I also just sold a cheap Players jump-break that broke fantastic as well
and straight as a arrow.

I make dymondwood jump/break cues. I have only been selling locally here in Nashville and have sold several hundred. I have started selling to people in other areas and ship everywhere now. The only problem is making them light as they are impregnated with acrelic and heavy. Most of the time they turn out around 19.5 and up.

PM me if you would like a price and some pictures.

Thanks,
Alex Brick
