I am still waiting for Mcgoorty's Billiard Bum to come to the big screen.

That's the one. Really. If I had any knowledge of screenplay writing, I'd do it myself.

Hi Lara! When I said they're, I was referring to the movie's website. Hopefully, this is a good thing for Jenn.

And, yes, I remember Gymkata. I actually liked that movie. Especially the part where he's trying to escape that cobblestone village.

Couldn't they get a real actress to portray the role?

And that's the name o' that tune!

I think it would be easier to a good performance out of a pool player than to make areal actress look like she new what she was doing at the tabel. I mean come on, Tom Cruise never really looked like he could play.
I am sure Jennifer can handle this and do it very well, it is just wheter the script is well written...
from reading more about it, it almost sounds like Flashdance, which could be good....or not... =/

The movie has no star value, limited fan base short on script,an unknown director and producer. It would be lucky if it goes diredt to HBO or Showtime.I doubt it will reach that far.

Effects, editing, and good direction can make an actor look like they are good at anything. No movie magic exists that will make a good actor out of a bad actor (or non-actor). Outside of the pool playing public, Jennifer is going to be zero box office draw. Except, perhaps, for a few horny teenage boys.

Well at least I hope it won't be a stinker like 'Kiss Shot' with Whoopie Goldberg and 'Up Against the 8 Ball' (which came out in 2004) were. UATEB was so lame. It centered on 2 black women hustlers, which is so unbelievable, since there are very few black women in the game at all and none of them are winning any major tournaments. And it had all that gangsta cra* and it was excruciating to stay with it to the end.

And yes, I loved Kurt Russell in Gymkata. lol.

I wish I could find a copy of Eric Nieme's movie. I was friends with him years ago and then browsing the web one day I find out he made a movie about pool. I'd like to see it so I can see if there's anything in there that I might recognise.

What movie is that?

The movie is called "Running Out". It was in limited release in the US in 2002. Eric Nieme wrote the screenplay, starred in the film, and acted as technical consultant. The rest of the cast were a plethora of unknowns. I could not find any availability in DVD or VHS format on Netflix or Amazon.

Now I am intrigued. I would like to see it.
