Who are these guys on AZ? (what's their alias)

Thanks and congrats to the winners,
Zim

I wan't to say congrats to the winners.I am looking forward to hear about the cues so guys let us know.

Thank you for the congrats. Looking forward to letting everyone play with the cue.

Just found out winners were posted here. Thanks for the congrats. I talked with Jim from J&D Customs after finding out I won. I am very excited to try one of his cues as he seems to be as much a player as a cue maker. Very important in my opinion. He will not take an order that will comprimise the playability or quality of his cues, no matter how much someone may offer him to do so. I look forward to posting pics and opinions when the cue comes in. I will also post opinions from other New Orleans area pool players.

Thanks
Mike

Looks like they both are very new to the forum. I believe that everyone that wanted to enter this contest had to submit an email explaining why it would be good for them to get the cue. It would be very interesting to see their submissions- I often wonder how those types of decisions work.

I did not submit an email.

I did not submit an email.

It is a little curious that the cue giver joined the forum the same month as both of the cue receivers...lol.

You would think that if the intention of the "giveaway" was to have some positive/negative feedback posted for people to read and gain an interest in the cue makers work, that the winners would have been regular posters from the forum that have some credibility!

I offered to accept the cue and allow ALL the players that play on the Gateway Amateur 9-Ball Tour a chance to shoot with it and get feedback from the players AND consider that cue donation as part of his sponsorship and help in advertising!

Ohh well...things that make you go hmmmm!!!

Zim

A new poster reviewing a new cuemaker's cue won't carry as much weight as someone who posts here regularly.

It made me go hmmmm....

Well, I sent an email in also. I am a regular poster here and I have given reviews on cues that I have used. But I saw several other posters (regular members) who posted that they were interested in trying their cue.

Zims Rack's offer in particular was an obvious choice as that would have provided an outstanding "bang for the buck" for them to get opinions on their cues.

I really had no expectations on them choosing myself as there were many other members who were better choices, if in fact their intentions were to get honest well respected reviews from people that the other members know and trust.

I am not implying that something fishy is going on or that the people they chose are any less deserving or qualified.

I guess what I'm saying is what has already been said, Hmmmmmmmm.

Missed the boat?

Jim & Derek: I wish you all the best a new cue maker but IMHO you missed the boat on giving the 2 free cues away on this site to 2 new posters that just joined AZ in July 2006 as you did. Personally, I didn't submit an email request to you since I was still fairly new on here and it seemed like there were many more deserving posters here. Again, it's just IMHO. Thanks.

Why is everyone interested in the process of who was picked and not in how the cue plays. Nobody is asking questions about the joint or what type of wood the cue is made. Or how about the price range of the cue??? Why can't some people just congratulate the people who was chosen and wait for the feedback that the cue gets? Everyone was new in this forum at one point.

True, but you have to admit that someone who has been on the board a long time and has the respect of the members has a whole lot more credibility than someone who just joined that no one knows.

For that matter, I didn't even send an e-mail so it's not sour grapes. I just think it smells a bit fishy.

Yes, thats true. But it also depends one who are the pool players that play with or around you. For example I can go to where I play pool and at times see sal butera or efrin reyas.

It could be that a bunch of people reading the forums finaly decided to join for the chance to win a new cue. I didn't send in an email either but I see how some people think the situation is a little fishy.
