Today is the day.

<<<<< ...bated breath.

The day for what?... I missed it....please tell me what is going to happen?

Bob I think dean said he was going to name the cue maker in 2 days time, which is today I guess.

Yes Bob, what Jeff said.
Dean posted on the 23rd he would announce who built the Jackpot cues in the next day or two.

I do not own one. But having purchased from Dean in the past with my expectations exceeded, and knowing Dean is well connected, I anticipate the revelation.

Amen brother. I've never bought from deano but i like the guy and his selling method works for him. Don't want, don't buy. Just s^*tcan the drama.

And people wonder why there’s no long term corporate investment in pool. Between the nits here who won’t spend a dollar and feel the need to protect someone else’s money to the mad hatters who can’t put aside their jealousy for one second to celebrate that billiards made the New York Times for something other than a murder at a pool hall, it’s amazing we can still get CSI and Diamond to invest.

I get that Dean can be seen as a different type of cat. I found it funny he would sell cues without pictures because he didn’t know how to attach pics. But people bought them and never seemed to mind. I can’t remember seeing a thread where anyone was left upset after dealing with the old fart. Sure his methods are weird but so what? He seems like a decent enough guy and I enjoy his stories of the old days. I think many of the folks here butt hurt that done have any skin in the game saw this as an opportunity to lash out at old Deano. For just $500 for Christ’s sake. Basically dinner for two with a decent bottle of wine.

I own the best cue of anyone on this site. Hands down, end of argument. Randy Mobley made me the first custom cue when he moved to his new shop. And when I say it’s the best cue hands down I mean the best for me. I have several other cues from Meucci to McDermot and even a Joss West that’s a old as me, but nothing plays better to me than that Mobley. Dean could send me that Balabushka tomorrow and I bet I would still use that Mobley. And who knows, someone may get their Jackpot cue and feel the same way about it as I feel about my Mobley.

Dean doesn’t owe anyone here a damn thing. He only owes the people who ordered cues a $500 cue. The rest of y’all should just about your business. It’s just freaking $500!!

It's that nagging issue of the principle of it all. I didn't buy one so I'm not supposed to say anything according to some, but yes $500 is not a ton of cash.

The thing we have to ask is would everyone buy so quickly if there had been more honest disclosure. He doesn't post pics so people are buying the sizzle since they can't see the steak. Was the sizzle all it sounded to be?

Sent from the future.

Of course you can say something, and you have. But you can’t seem to let it go. Who cares? Don’t buy a cue from him. But constantly beating up in the guy just seems wrong to me. It’s like he’s selling a $500 cue to your best friend for 5 grande. If that was the case I would understand. But it’s not. Nothing like it. And it’s just $500 of someone else’s money.

This doesn’t seem like a case like those other few where the cue makers were outright scamming folks. Taking money and not delivering the cue or having someone else make them and then put his name on them. These folks knew they wouldn’t be told who was making the cue. Does that make dean a crook?

Of course not. I hope he and the owners never say who made them. What would they be worth then??

In my opinion, and as a buyer of one of the cues in question, if the cuemaker wants to remain anonymous to this forum, it should be respected.
I received a phone call from Dean with all information revealed with a promise to keep it between us.
It's easy to understand why the cuemaker wishes to remain anonymous and not want their name associated with those cues.

Look at the workmanship in the Jackpot cues, like the way the wood threads were cut in the shaft.

I missed the pics. Can you post them again? Or a link?

When the cuemaker is ready. As I understood it, they wanted anonymity for their own personal reason. I hope they’re never ready to reveal. Not worth the hassle on this site.
This is fine.....the buyers are happy with there Jackpot cues............but when they go to sell these cues.....What will they call them ?

:lmao:

Was it a basic dinner for two costing $500 or the BS in this thread keeping corporate from finding a way to make money off of pool?

Sorry, I guess our ideas for dinner and wine differ. You’re right, my bad. Let’s put it back in mutually agreeable terms- for the price of a shaft. That better? One.
