Jacoby Heavy Hitter, cue ball off the table...

I have Jacoby Heavy Hitter and most of the times if I hit hard cue ball goes off the table.
Cue has Samsara break tip.

I use chalk....

Should I hit faster and harder on break or just regular hit with this heavy breaking cue?

Any tips?

You're not hitting head ball flush. It's the glancing blow that's causing whitey to hop off table. Try 3/4power and hit head ball flush.

Bad hit or a lose front ball will send the cueball off table. Practice breaking and look at the racks.

lower the butt of the cue and concentrate on hitting the break shot with a more level cue.

Hey Buddy, I'm with you. The more elevated the butt, the higher the contact angle on the cue ball will be. Too much angle and the cue ball "hops" to the rack. If it hits the head ball while in the air, the cue ball jumps off the table. Had this discussion with a friend in Vegas last week. He kept blaming everything else. JMHO.

When the cue ball is flying through the air like a mini jump shot it strikes the head ball above center and departs along the tangent straight up. This can be caused by striking down on the cue ball or I suppose even by scooping the cue ball. As previously mentioned the cure is a level cue and a flush hit on the rack will impart more of the cue balls energy into the rack.

The CB pops up on the break because it bounces across the table (as it does on every shot, but less obviously) and hits the head ball on the fly.

Hitting with the cue as level as possible is the first thing to do.

If it's still popping up, reducing speed can help but there's another way that avoids that - move the CB forward or back a little to "sync" the length of the CB's hops so it hits the head ball and the cloth at the same time. Try different distances until you find the one that works for your break speed - adjust as needed if you increase or decrease your speed. I break from the side rail about 4" behind the head string because that's where my break speed syncs best - I get no or very little popups, so all my break power goes into the rack rather than into launching the CB.

Most likely hitting above center ball on cb, thus you are putting force follow, which causes cb to bounce down the table, but you can't see the bounce with the naked eye.

Try hitting cueball a tip below where you were aiming before....

What do you mean by "flush hit"?

(sorry English is my second language)

Flush was a un clear way of saying a full ball hit. You can position the cue ball whereever you want but from that position hit the head ball full not a cut shot.

No opinion here, all fact. Skipping the cueball sends it on a nice journey across the room.

Pinching the cueball into the table when you hit it hard is an almost guaranteed way to send you on the walk of shame to go pick it up.

Lyn most of the members who posted after me are in the know;)

i have sent whitey through the air many times and usually intentionally.... trying to just miss A sharker who wants to get into my head. this is like any other shot, it needs to be practiced so the shooter can accomplish it with accuracy and safety:D

Its from elevating the back of your cue. You will always be somewhat jacked up unless the entirety of the cue is between the cushions.
Another thing you can try along with lowering the butt end, is to move the cueball back an inch at a time until you find a happy place where the hops match up to the cb being on the table right AT the head ball hit.

hi

OK i used level stroke and its much better, however, it still goes off the table if I hit really hard...

Need some practice.

Tonight I realized how good is Jacoby heavy hitter, I love it :)

Thats great, also to make sure you contact the cue ball lower then center. You don't want to hit the so low that you draw the ball back too much but your breaks shold improve and feel much better when struck below center.

level stroke

Use a level stroke.

It's physically impossible to achieve a level stroke when breaking from the kitchen unless your cue is about two feet long.

Cardiac kid, Road Hustler, Patrick & Chuck have the correct answer.

lower the butt of the cue and concentrate on hitting the break shot with a more level cue.

This is the reason here. When you break with the butt of the cue elevated at all the cueball skips down the table more. It hits 2-3 times on the way. If you hit the 1 ball less than squarely when the cueball is off the table even a millimeter it will deflect off the table.

Take off some power until you can use it with cueball control. Hit with a level cue. The power on the break come from you putting your body into the shot and wrist snap at the end of the stroke. If you muscle it too much you will lose control.

put the 1 ball on the head spot. Just the 1 ball. put the cue ball in the spot where you normally break from. practice hitting stop shots. once you're able to hit the 1 ball and stop the cue ball dead, you're getting a full hit.
