Hi Tammy, did you and I play in a scotch doubles tournament together in Laughlin years ago at the Riverside Casino? Just curious because your name seems familiar to me. Peace, John.

Who is Mike Segal? I've never seen a photo of him. I'm from Australia. So we've heard of Earl, Efren, Corey. I've had an interest in pool for eight years.
Oh, he's the best friend of the guy running the comp so he gets to play in the final. Makes perfect sense(lessness) to me.
If you don't know Mike Sigel, I think you have to do a little research.
Although he has been more or less retired, from playing, it shouldn't be too hard to find out about him.
Start with the Billiard Hall of Fame.

And if you're doing research, it will help to spell his name correctly. I think Mike will appreciate it too.

Ever since the IPT announcement of the players list AND the players invited to the King of the Hill Shootout, the forums have been on fire. There has been a great deal of controversy about the player selection, and along came a slew of posts about which players should be included, which players were omitted, which players don't belong in the IPT, and which players are worthy of membership.

So I end my Buzz Buster thread by saying THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, Kevin Trudeau, for making the IPT a reality. This tour could change the lives of pool players who have been struggling their entire lives to keep afloat. I am saddened when I see world-class champions, Hall of Famers, and others continue to give it their all, but never seem to get ahead. The IPT gives pool players, old and young, HOPE for a future.

If the tour is a success, just imagine what this will do for the game/sport. In the alternative, if the tour falls down, the pool players will not be in any worse shape than they are today. I welcome the IPT and look forward to Orlando.

In sum, why not give the IPT just one chance to thrive before you put the nails in the coffin.

JMHO, FWIW!

JAM, I'm with you in thanking Trudeau. He seems to be sincere in his efforts, and this could very well create a few miracles for many players & their families.
"Miracles are a kind of exchange. They are performed by those who temporarily have more for those who temporarily have less. (Trudeau has more money to fund an event such as this to possibly change a player's life for the better than what it may be at the present).
"They are teaching devices for demonstrating that it is more blessed to give than to receive."
IMO, just because there is much more money involved in IPT than other tournaments, does this dilute the other important tournaments? If IPT isn't a success for some reason, I would think that many players would just continue with the other great tournaments they've been attending, which is what I think you meant. Aren't there several players that seem to make a fairly decent living at pool with the tournaments available before IPT has come along?
What do you think it takes for a player to make a living at it? Skill? Luck? Financial management? Support from others? I'm sure a few depend on a few 'miracles' here & there too. (things most of us need to just get through life!) Trudeau may have more money than most of us, but money isn't everything, so he's obviously looking for something else in this. Maybe he is wanting to help the players as he's said. Maybe the players will give him what he's looking for. Hopefully it will be win/win for all!
