Jasmin is an exceptional 14.1 player and proved it a year ago, coming tied for 5th in the world straight pool championships against the top men. She backed it up again earlier this year, dominating at the Women's European Championships, running 75 and out and 76 and out in her final two matches.

Yup. Bo-Ram and Yu-Ram Cha are participating. They won't make it out of the group stages, most likely. Yu-Ram may have a chance, but I can't tell. It depends how this evening went (or how tomorrow goes).
I think it's great that this event is blind of gender. Better yet, whenever Jasmin plays she draws a crows. Part of it is the spectacle of a "girl" playing a "man's" game, and part of it is because she is quite attractive. But also, she plays great pool and that's what I enjoy most about watching her. She really has a fearless confidence about her, like when she played Hopkins. She made some amazingly aggressive shots, and conducted herself like a seasoned pro. Given her age, I can only see her getting better and I look forward to her playing in more tournaments state-side.
She placed a very respectable 5th place last year, and I'd like to see her outdo herself in this event. SJM himself mentioned that she's the best woman 14.1 player right now, and I'll surely be rooting for her.

Based on what I've seen here, I would be surprised if the Cha girls have ever played straight pool before. Nobody that plays plays anything but 9 ball in South Korea. With the exception of low handicapped players playing this game called "Anycall." I'd imagine they've received some coaching, but I'm sure this is their first straight pool tournament. Which makes me wonder, what other women were invited, if any?StevenPWaldon said:

I am not sure if any were but I really think Jeanette Lee should have been. She is also a very good straight pool player as is Liz Ford. It is obvious the Cha sisters were allowed to play because of their association with Charlie. And though I think they did well considering their lack of experience with the game (see the home page for AZ), I do not think a World Championship that made other players win Qualifiers to enter, is the venue to learn the game.
I think if they were going to give out some spots to women, the two I mentioned were far more deserving....IMO.
