CJ quit because all the APA-3s, haters, and pool scientists who thought they knew more than him ran him off.

CJ was a marketer, like a lot of people who sell stuff on here, but he gave some good pool advice and told some stories.

Whether you liked CJ, or not, nobody can say he didn't have a lot of pool knowledge and was one of the best players of his time. He has beaten Earl, Efren, Sigel, and lots of others when he was playing his best and they were in their prime.

I wish he would come back on here.

He lived in Tampa, FL for awhile. He got me for $350 at the Green Parrot Bar. I figured I'd try him, not knowing who he was. He made a lot of money in FL before he left. Johnnyt

Love watching Shaw play, makes the game look ridiculously easy!

Has the highest gear in the game just now IMO.

I remember hearing he was a black pool(English 8 ball-small table super tight pockets) champion before switching to American pool. So I assume yes he played endless hours practicing in his youth and after some success In black pool he made the switch, which obviously was the correct descision.

Now please don't go getting "politically correct" on me with my answer.

My perspective on Shaw's learning.
He probably started from a very young age.
Probably was a nerdy-type (so was I) so used pool as a get-away. (Nothing wrong with that).

Here's the rub though...Shaw has a immense natural aptitude for this game.
His vision center is spot-on and can make balls effortlessly--kind of like R. Morris and Earl.

Shaw has simply played so much pool, that he has in his arsenal a habitual
setup that works superbly when making balls-that's nothing to say about the other aspects of his game.
That's why he can be such a fast shooter. Again, like Rodney and Earl.

I agree with everything you said, but I wonder why you think that he was a nerdy type of person? I do not imagine that he was ever a nerdy type of person. He seems like a very confident type of person with a lot of self esteem. I do not know him, but from what I have seen of him, he does not seem like he was ever nerdy. I might be thinking of the term "nerdy" in a different way then you do though. I see him as just an amazing talented pool player, that probably had a lot of great natural ability from a young age.

:poke:

Very few real pool players ever go to AZBillillard's forums and read the crap.

Not even league players. :boring2: AZBilliards is a very small community.
