And what about the player that was asked to withdraw and let Mr. Hopkins take his place? He too worked hard to get there most likely, paid his dues and was in the draw. It's the players responsibility to make sure they are in the draw and in the tournament. Mr. Hopkins had every opportunity to just say NO, it's not ethical for me to ask another player to forgive his spot for me. HOF or Not its wrong in every aspect.
Wow; very unexpected! Thread re-appears..........
My guess - Mr Wilson locked it and Mike overrided him (kinda like Barry overriding Jay --- call it irony, call it Karma)

Ok then, where were we?
if Wilson walks, are we gonna shit on Mike? that would be irony
in addition to BB being void of integrity, a liability to the growth of pool he is also a schmuck of epic proportions....and those are his good points
if A sr was aware of the strings BB pulled to facilitate an opening for him to play in the event he exercised poor judgement by playing
still waiting for A jr's response with regards to what he would have done if he were in J's shoes
That would only be possible if both Jay and Wilson had comparable reputations regarding fairness/impartiality.
Steelman was paid handsomely for his departure.
If I understand it correctly, BB found someone local who volunteered his spot.
How much more responsibility does a player need to do after he/she already confirmed his spot with the owner? 1 time, 2 times, 5 times???
So paying him handsomely makes everything right?
Im sure Mr. Steelman made more money off his departure than he may have stood to make in prize money. That is not the point however.
ah..so Wilson is BB and Mike is Jay
Then Jay should buy the US open and hire BB as TD

Now you're just assuming that the US Open is for sale. It's not, because there are several people I know who would buy the rights. And if that should ever happen, why would BB ever be invited back, in any capacity? After all, anyone who buys it would do their level best to erase his name, everywhere it comes up in those history books.
is Steelman just as culpable, since he took money from the devil?

On the contrary. Where did I condone it. This whole thing stinks to high heavens.
Was Barry responsible for signing everyone up or was Pat Fleming?
