I'm telling ya.... A rebranding to WAPA. A transition to a gobally accepted amateur development governing body.
The WAPA has been living off the good graces of federations, and were at one point convincing others that to be legit, you needed their blessing. That time is over, and the world is a better place.
I'm betting, maybe within the next year, once the Scrooge McDuck'ian money vault is empty and the WPA board members are forced to fly coach. You'll see some record breaking back peddling, and they'll be begging for scraps.
The WPA is going to help China build relations with other countries.
Everyone wants an institute of Heyball and a Heyball Professional club.
All the federations are submitting documents clearly stating the need for Heyball.
Heyball pros are needed in every country right now.
No money for signing. Clearly this isn’t LIV Golf lol.
But can you imagine the Saudis deciding to jump in with LIV Pool or something? Texting MBS now…
Qatar and China appear to be the main backers of the WPA currently. Perhaps the WPA will continue with unknown players and hope that these governments don’t care that the top players are absent. Although that would defeat the point of sportswashing.
The no money thing is not surprising to me, but is ice cold for the WPA. There was the specter of some players needing federation money that I think the WPA considered an ace up their sleeve.
But for guys like Filler, Shane, Sky Ouschan, etc. there is some kind of guaranteed money from the Mosconi Cup. Filler is all but guaranteed to make the Mosconi Cup and, if the play is like anything it was this year, a very good chance at a $40K+ end of season bonus. Shane and Sky are all but guaranteed spots on the US Mosconi team, and get whatever second place is ($20K?) just for showing up and shooting balls into the rails.
Filler could have had whatever he wanted from the WPA within reason and still chose Matchroom. We don't know if Josh got extra perks or was able to negotiate anything additional for himself given his leverage, but the WPA ate a hot pile of dogshit this morning hoo boy.
The ban policy was horrible business decision making. All risk, no hedge. And now they can either pull a total about face and basically apologize and capitulate (assuming the deal hasn't changed now lol), or have a "tour" bereft of just about all of pools top players.
Josh signing up for the WNT is like when Sonny locks the door in the barroom scene in A Bronx Tale.

I'm also interested to see how Predator handles this. Josh is the star in Predator's line up. Not a single Predator logo in that promo shot. A few Predator players just jumped ship, FSR being one of them.

Well, yes, their rebranding has been extensively noted before....
But my point was that neither organization has yet listed the World (Nineball) (Pool) Championship on their calendars. I wonder if there will be a World (Nineball) (Pool) Championship in 2024.
Seems reasonable enough to me if I had to choose between that and the other deal.
This should be made into a movie.

it may be a jewel but it's also their ball and chain when certain european federations encourage their players to "go play heyball"... it's not their game.. it's crazy that it's even included in the WPA calendar
They think its the path to the Olympics. My thought? Who gives a flying fk about Olympic status? I grew up watching the Olympics but i wouldn't get out of the gas chamber to watch the current woke/lib version of the games.
