Jayson Shaw First Contracted Pro on WNT

Their investment is in men's pool. It hard to figure why anybody would question the strategic direction that Matchroom has taken. Women's pool is in good hands with WPA/Predator, and if you want to watch them, you'll have ample opportunity, both live and on stream.

I'm sure Matchroom won't tell you where to invest your money and you shouldn't tell them where to invest theirs.
I dont think I was telling them where to invest their money!?
I just said it was a shame and the reason I think it’s a shame is because I think they are streets above what the WPA do so I’m sure they would do a good job with it. Strange reaction!

If each poolroom has its B and C teams ready do they plan to have fun in the WPA?

The WPA now needs new male contenders. Do the top 30-60 actually want to compete on the WPA calender which includes Heyball and multiple trips to China?

I support Predator but the remaining pros dont have sponsors for that type of travel. The next tier of pro is self funded.

If its going to be that way just have SJM Bob Jewett and DrDave play a finals type match. It would be more ratings than 714 recording. That is the new senior citizen Team USA.

Two more open spots. Must be older than 72, seventy two years and younger need nit apply.

I think the most interesting of all is Alex P. Not because he's home town talent, but because he has put recent focus on chinese 8b.

He's one of the extreme minority in pro pool that are both strong players and more importantly, entertainers. People want to watch Alex play. MR wants entertainment. However Alex has broken through into being allow to compete in the chinese 8b circuit. Ridiculous money in C8b. This will be a hard choice for Alex I think.
Alex is in... 👍

Then let me clarify, too. The fact is that WPA, in partnership with Predator, has had a good track record of late in growing women's pool. I do not agree that Matchroom has a superior track record to them in the area of women's pro pool. I also do not agree with anybody who feels that Matchroom has any obligation at all to oversee/grow the women's pro game.

You said "it's a shame they haven't made any real progress" in women's pool. and I still disagree. That makes it sound as if they are trying but failing to have an impact in the sport of women's pro pool. In truth, it is not what they are trying to accomplish at all.

In this case from what I've see Matchroom is basically saying they can play any tournament they want as long as it doesn't conflict with one of theirs. Am I getting this right? If so I applaud them for that.

Spot on here. I'd say Predator is the one driving the women's pro pool bus right now. They may be tied to WPA right now but they don't need to be. WPA brings nothing to the gal's game as far as i'm concerned.

Sorry, but you're wrong here.
They provide the $$$$. What does the WPA do for women's pro pool? Not being flippant i'd like to know what they actually do. In this new environment of pro pool just being a sanctioning body doesn't mean much. If the WPA was gone tomorrow would the Predator women's events go away? Another quest: i just checked the WPBA '24 site. Not one mention of the WPA anywhere. Are there no ties there? Curious.

The WPA and Predator acted in partnership to conceive some new women's events. As you note, it's Predator putting up the money. The WPBA is a WPA sanctioned tour and has been for decades. It has been a winning alliance for the most part.

There is zero mention of the WPA on the WPBA site so that begs the question: just what does the WPA for the tours? Whatever clout the WPA MAY have once had seems to be fading by the day.

Where the WPA figures in the process is by establishing rule and standards for field filling, code of conduct, drug testing and other things and they offer date protection. There's no reason that WPBA would mention them on their website, for it's not a selling point, just an administrative detail.

While men's pool has grown to the point that date protection is a near impossibility,
women's pro pool is still small enough where it matters. Having date protection adds value for both the WPBA and its event sponsors.

Yes that’s correct based on what Darren Appleton posted on Facebook. And in exchange the signed players get automatic bids into tournaments and other perks.

HUH?? You think the WPA has a chance of winning this fight long term? With what players? The scrubs/also-rans/amateurs??? Nobody but the Chinese give a fk about ch8b.
You must have missed what I was saying

I would say you severely missed what I was saying. Do I seem stupid?
