Love Shaw but has anyone ever seen anyone get this many rolls in a whole tournament? Sure, rolls in a match happen, but in all his WPM matches so far he's gotten so lucky. Pair that with his shot making ability and that's just unfair haha

No argument there. But many times he's not making a "brave" shot and gets lucky. Also I noticed his opponents were also pretty unlucky lol like I have watched YouTube videos of pockets spitting out balls, but never randomly witness it during a match

I'd never call him lucky. He shoots as straight as a laser beam. He sends good players packing with a 9-0 score quite often.

The fact that he often wins with a 9-0 score often doesn't mean that he can't get lucky..
In my eyes, missing the 6 ball two times and both times snookering your opponent is called lucky (just to name 1 example).

Based on the last 12 months he appears to be a great rotation player.

I don't know how he will be in the next 5 years.

He has won many hill hill matches. Eventually that will stop if his opponents can quit making mistakes.
 
Hill hill vs LeeVan Corteza in the semi of the bigfoot challenge. LeeVan choked on a real easy shot similar to Alex.
 
Unbelievable!!! Are those Rasson tables?? Looks like they have some problems to work out, that should never happen. In the replay it looks like the 8 bounces off the bottom of the pocket and pops out. Maybe instead of emptying the pockets they should leave one ball in the hole as a damper.

I watched a couple times during the finals alone that David got good rolls. To call someone like Jayson a lucky player is taking away from the fact that he is one of the best if not the best player in the world.

That's what they started to do after this match, if you watch all of them you'll see that the players when they were going to shoot a powerful shot in an empty pocket they took a ball off of another pocket and put it in.
BTW I have been saying this for years now. Usually you see players that take out the balls off the pocket they are going to shoot (if I remember correctly even Darren Apleton and Johnny Archer do this). Whenever I ask them why are they doing that they say so the OB doesn't pop out. But I've only seen this happen when shooting in an empty pocket, so theoretically they increase their chances of a pop out (unless the pocket has 10 balls in it and there is no more room.. But usually you see players taking out 1 or 2 balls of the pocket..)

Many years ago (1970s) I played Tony Annigoni on a drop-pocket Gold Crown. Every time he was going to shoot a ball hard he made sure there were exactly two balls in the pocket. I thought he was crazy.

He was not crazy when it came to the two balls. No balls in the pocket does what the Rasson table does if you hit the shot right in the middle. One ball will sit centered on the drain hole and can do the same thing. Two balls breaks up pattern. Three balls starts to be too full for the original GC pockets. Two balls is just right.

That's the shot I was trying to think of before. Lee Vann (a great player) had him and let him off the hook!

This table should NOT be used in another major tournament until they fix this problem. That's beyond bad!

I can remember at Caesars Tahoe in 1982 and we were using Corner Pockets of America tables, a pretty cheap replica table that they built for their chain of poolrooms in the North Central states (Montana, the Dakotas etc.). The balls were popping out of all the pockets if the players hit them too hard. They eventually figured it out and quit shooting hard. This was not a case of shooting into an empty pocket either. The ball was hitting off the back of the pocket and coming back onto the table. Terribly engineered tables, but they were the sponsor so what could we do, except shake our heads and grimace each time it happened.

I have a secret chant I say to give people good luck and I did it once for Shaw on a live stream. The rest is history.

For a price I could give you the same lucky charm.
